I received a letter from the TV License company (or whatever it is). I am allowed to watch the TV until July.

It's really nice of the BBC to tell you what you can and cannot watch in your own home isn't it.

The sooner their put to the History books the better.

There was an interesting poll here,

If BBC channels were encrypted Would you subscribe ?

The results so far speak for themselves. The BBC "people" make out its so great but they wouldn't subscribe unless people subsidise it for them like parasites

You really do have a problem, don't you?
Have you sought help at all, or is that what you are doing here?

how do I prove that I am not watching the tv?

    You don't.

It's up to them to prove you are.

Best advice is No Contact, No Comment, don't answer the door and, above all else, DON'T SIGN ANYTHING.
  • simply because the idea of random strangers having a 'right' to poke around my home looking for a working aerial

They don't have the "right" to poke around your home.

and why would they if you have honestly declared that you are not using a tv to watch live tv.

    Because they're on commission.
What happens if they find a tv or other device capable of watching it on, but not in use?

In a perfect world, nothing but, as they're on commission, there's a chance they'll "adjust" their report, to suggest you were doing something licensable.

It's a receiving device i.e. an aerial that you need the licence for - not the TV

I need a TV Licence because there's an aerial on the roof
If you have a means of receiving programmes (even if you never use it) you have to have a licence or an exemption certificate

What exactly is this "exemption certificate"
