Thanks ladies for popping by. I thought the same GP and to be honest so far it's been true, but feel I need to ask. As I definitely wouldn't have signed up to it (i.e. Any insurance product on a financial product) knowingly so it'd be a mis sell for sure

Must update my sig. (now done).

Not great MSE wise, but getting there. A TT today. Small spends (less than £10 on groceries). More spent yesterday at the balloon fiesta but it was great to treat DD2 and a friend. Some decluttering but haven't sorted the Bay. A job for when we get back off hols.

Just speed tidied the house, fly lady free styling with DD2, feels better and more organised. It hadnt really got back to normal after the students left, so pleased it's finally done

I think CCP was something that was in the news a year or so ago - all people who had been charged it were supposed to have been contacted - I might be barking up the wrong tree here. Its worth getting back in touch with your CC provider and asking them to check if you had PPI and see what they come back with......I did and have had some handy windfalls :)

Hello brizzle and chums of the thread :D

Igamogam - I thought I heard something along those lines too - but there was a date issue. Say for example, you had the money returned if you had CCP after 2007 (making that up, as can't remember exactly), whereas I've had this CC (and ccp for the majority of it :o) since.... lawks, erm 1996, '97 something like that? Did you use the paperwork templates on here?

brizzle - sorry about the hijack :o But you mentioning PPI just kinda jogged my memory is all :D

Darling GP...hijack away.. it was chocolate spread recipes earlier which were yum.

I say give it a go, especially as you have the paperwork. I didn't so just wrote a polite note asking if I had been sold PPI and could they look into it.

Early start tomorrow so heading to sleep real soon...feel ready for my last few days at work....am counting down now...

I just went onto the website of offending CC's and went to the complaints section where there is a link for complaining about PPI - filled in the forms - vague as I had no paperwork and have had some surprising results :) HTH

  • Morning Brizzle, what brilliant subjects being discussed :)

I remember our mortgage going up to 16+% and it was scary - fortunately we boogered off to work abroad and when we returned they were down to a more manageable 7/8%. I cannot imagine the anguish this would cause now.

PPI stuff is interesting. I tried and failed with NW but the local branch manager advised me to do it again  She said it is quite common to be turned down once. It's on my list.

Mr T has had PPI in the past but no clue where - can he find out from a credit check where he had accounts?

Re Uni - it's bl@@dy expensive. For DD around £14k per year and we didn't want her starting her career with debt - I don't think any young person should be saddled with it and whilst I appreciate education costs £ - I would much rather have more trained nurses, doctors, teachers etc etc 'home grown' than imported. Bear in mind I have lived and worked abroad twice, those countries were very specific about contract lengths/skill sets etc. I think the UK has got into a right old mess. Sorry I appear to have gone off on one :rotfl:

If the whole aspect of recruitment (particularly from abroad), training, attrition replacement, LOA due to stress related illness was considered as a whole, then it would be far cheaper to have zero uni fees and grow sufficient talent in country.

Finally the :) is out here - hope it is shining on you too.

    Very best wishes Tilly xxx

You are right. Everyone should have been contacted. We heard about it on the news and hadn't heard so I got in touch and they refunded me but not DH. I had to then write to them on his behalf, he read and signed the letter, to receive his refund. We have the same address as when we were missile it but we had to contact them.

I was horrified to find I had paid PPI. I only knew we had it with LooydsTSB when they confirmed how much they were going to pay us. We have had thousands back. I would never have knowingly taken it out...

When we went to Oz in 2003 I took out a Brittania credit card as there were no charges on it for use overseas. When we received first statement we had been charged PPI. We paid it for many months while they argued with me, finally they sent a copy of my application to prove I had ticked the box, and there it was, an unticked box. When I let them know it hadn't been ticked and to check it again they agreed and returned the money.

I would say persevere. You don't get if you don't ask.

  • Dear brizzle - and friends of the thread.

I've dug out my paperwork that I sent for aeons ago, and I've just composed a letter - outlining why I think it's a mis-selling case. I'll get the p/work photocopied, pop it all in an envelope, stick a stamp on (I have got some :D) and pop it in the post this arvo.

I've no idea what'll come of it, but thank you all for giving me the impetus to do something.

    I'm grateful - thank you :D

Well done GP...now are you sure that's the only one? I ask as Tosco have just told me that I never had a CC with them...but I can see it in my minds eye and the statements in a folder (before I shredded them last year :( ) so I know they are wrong....may not have PPI of course but certainly the card, well that's a letter back to that then!!

Thanks Mrs T..rant away. I feel the same and have a fledgling fund for my two to try and defray some of the expense. I did a long training course myself and not sure how I'd have afforded it if I'd have had to pay UG fees.
