It is great you have DH working on budget with you. I still haven't managed to get Mr P to even look at YNAB. A bit like yours I guess caz.
I have had to tell him not to spend anything without checking with me first. He STILL has far too much of his own spends. He is really an ostrich :)

    Hi brizzle,

I am back and have posted on my thread - sorry i was absent for so long and thank you for posting on my thread. It sounds like you had an amazing holiday :T Very well deserved too :T:T

I am also decluttering again - some clothes that are now too big :T and a couple of other bits too although i did pick up a few books in the charity shop today :o they will help with uni though but maybe i should ensure i declutter the same amount of stuff to ensure there is more leaving the house than coming in?

Also what is this marshmallow no electric slow cooker of which you speak? It sounds fab :)

Would you mind letting me know which van you have brizzle ? Or if there is one you recommend ? Think this is a fab dream for the future but to make it more real i need to investigate costs etc and then start a little fund for it :D little steps of moving the dream to an actuality.

I too am very focused on food here. We have so much in our wee house  So i am working to actually empty the freezer and cupboards of food  My cunning plan is that currently the freezer is full of bits of veg, reduced pastry, cheese and lots and lots and lots of meat. By using up the meat and some has been in there a while so it needs using  I'll be reducing the shopping bill as well as freeing up space for batch cooking - even when i take something out of the freezer now it is so full there is no room for anything much - i just got some stock in earlier and that was a small tub. I like cooking so all good there. I'm looking forward to getting it all a bit more organised so i know what we have in and what is needed - which will be so much easier with less stuff - and of course the shopping will be alot easier to put away too :)

And another one voting to see the kittens.

Hey:wave:, great to 'see' you DDFW!

Yes, declutter as much as you bring in! :)

The marshmallow is known as a wonderbag...it's great. Have only used it once, but it will be used lots as I start doing more stews and casseroles.

Mixed day today. Had to go out for a prearranged family meal so £25 on that, but we all drank water and OH had soup etc, so frugal for 4 of us. Had to fill up car too, so £55 there. On the good side though, OH has listed loads of CDs. Had listed more, but we then realised that as we are not prosellers on Am2zon that we would be losing money if we sold CDs at 0.01p plus postage and that the estimated fees are not accurate at all...they left off a 86p per item charge   Cue much deleting and closing of items before we lost the house! (So to speak). On the plus side we are trying to sell a rare CD for over £300.. Well you never know and it's comparable with other ones! Fingers crossed for me guys!:)

We also have stuff listed on the Bay of E, with some bids.

Tomorrow will be a spendy day as I am going to collect kits. :D We are also hosting a family, but are doing HM pizza. JO's recipe for dough, so need to get some toppings. Trying to eke out the groceries, and we have a budget of £200 for Sept as it's a tight month. So even filter coffee :rotfl: was on the maybe list...(first time for everything...;) before I realised. Couldn't manage without it and put it on the definite list. Bread is in BM and my ILs gave me HM jams today too...very sweet.

Hope everyone had a good weekend

Vans...ah, vans. For a starter one I would go for a Mazda Bongo. Either a conversion or one that still retains 8 seats, but such a comfy bed. They are magic and good value. No loo on board tho.

The Bongo was our first foray into campervanning. We have a real beast now, coach built job, but then we have 2 growing kids and a predilection for using it in winter when a Bongo would lead to hypothermia! Our next one was a conversion of a Ford Sprinter/Fiat Ducato wheel base- these are big enough to have a shower and loo. Again for 4, but most of them are for 2 or 3 which is heaps of space. Much more manoeuvrable too and easier to park! But it's an excellent lifestyle. Cant recommend it highly enough:)
