Its amazing weather isnt it. Love it.

Well.. quite a momentous event occurred yesterday. Should probably write a lengthy post but still mulling it over in my head plus have to work today so..in brief..

OH 'discovered' the debt. Had been reading the tablet and saw my MSE signature - asked whether it was a mistake???:o:(:rotfl: (do I laugh or cry?) Well I was stunned - we were relaxing, without kids, in a pub garden at the time too...

Well its a line in the sand. it has to stop he said....well I agree. He wants to pay it all off..its not our money and he's worried about when the 0% rates stop so just wants it gone even if it leaves us with no buffer. I am happy to let him make some decisions (even if I am a control freak)..its his debt too after all. he had just never asked how much debt we had. He knows that he and I have got ourselves into this together

So in the last 24 hours have:

    - drained ISAs and OP pot and a couple of other places and should be able to raise £9k (that will pay off 2 cards totally and part of another so a great start. Psychologically have agreed thats a good thing to do)
    - sent off our details for student stays - so with 2 agencies now
    - cancelled monthly DDs worth a shocking £390.. and bet we wont notice it although it was substantially savings..
    - redone a budget on BudgetBrain - with some slack so not all grim but need to discuss with him in detail this eve
    - felt relieved its not 'my' guilty secret anymore
    - provisionally have said we will be DF by New Years Eve... I think with some additional money from overtime, van hire etc it is possible..but will take some control

So..in short lovely peeps thats it. Feel very pleased we are now really all in this together... but embarassed too..

I think that's great too Brizzle. It's a long, hard slog when you're going it alone and often others will unknowingly work against you. You're in it together now.

I hadn't realised that Mr B didn't know - I would have advocated telling him. As you said, it's his debt too, so it is best that he's on board and not undoing all your good work with rash spending.

    onwards and downwards xx
What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?
  • Wow that's some news! So glad you've managed a plan together though. DH knows about our debt but is still actively trying to avoid paying it. Whereas yours wants to pay it all off and quick as. Fab! How far forward has this brought your DFD? :)
