Im a 6"2 20 stone former rugby player. I had 3 1980's Nissan Micras (the old square ones), have had 2 307's (on lease, dont judge me), a VW Bora, Honda Accord and now have a 2004 Honda Civic. No problem with room in any of them. The civic is MASSIVE inside, I can sit myself behind my seat with inches to spare on leg and head room.0

Have you considered sitting in the seat, not behind it? That is what most of us do.0 -

You should not be using a spear inside the car, If it's control over the sprogs you require then a blunt instrument is preferable. You scullion! You rampallian! You fustilarian! I’ll tickle your catastrophe (Henry IV part 2)0 -

Headroom usually isn't a problem in modern cars. All the mainstream ones are expanding upward in order to claim a large interior for relatively little road coverage, which is just stupid. Legroom's a bit rarer. In my experience, the only manufacturer I've noted consistently supply enough for me (at 6'5" I may be a little demanding in this respect) across their whole recent range was BMW. Possibly a 1- or 3-series with a small engine might fit the bill, although he might have to go slightly older to afford one. It might be more sensible to look at Civics and Focuses, which are almost as good (to the point I'd be happy with one), and he is smaller than me.
And on the economy front, as driving style is the biggest factor, if he expects his car to move when he asks it to, a bigger engine that doesn't need to be pushed so hard is a better bet. The only problem then is the effect this has on the insurance and tax (tax band being decided by a test that assumes you can be out-accelerated by the average glacier).0 -
I'm 6'2" too - I agree with the above comment about the Smart ForTwo - plenty of room for me in that. Also not mentioned is the BMW Mini - plenty of headroom and one of few cars that I don't have the bottom of the seat fully back on. No-one can sit behind you of course!0

Although the only problems I've had with small cars have been 90's Renault Clio (pedals seem to be made for women and really close together) and Ford Ka.
Although why specifically a small car? you can pick up reasonable sized cars which are economical to run
Strange that, my daughter had '90 plte clio, I drove it back when she bought it.
I'm 6' 3" and that was the 1st small car I felt at home in, had a cavaier at the time.I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:I'm still tittering about the rugby player in the Micra :rotfl:to be honest the micra is the only small car I've been in that actually did feel small.Gloomendoom wrote: »Have you considered sitting in the seat, not behind it? That is what most of us do.
I think the other thing that has to be considered is just how safe is a small car. Ok no car stands much of a change against a wagon but the odds must be better in something a little larger? and I'm sure most drivers will feel less vulnerable in 1, hence all the none off road 4x4s. Yes, I realise the ins issues;)I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
