Mitsubishi Colt is small, and quite tall. Roomy inside too, even in the back. Boot space is a joke, though.

I'm 6'7" and struggle with the same problems. lol
Currently have a focus, but even that's a bit of a squash with the legs.
Older style MR2's i can't sit in with the roof on.
Old minis i can't even get into the driving seat. Same for saxos
All i can say is he will have to trek around and try them. Every body is different, and depending on him being longer in leg or body will make a difference
  • We have recently bought a Skoda Fabia for my husband to drive to work in. There is loads of room in there and he is 6'3". That's both legroom and headroom.

  • A colleague at work, who is 6' 4", drives a Fiat Panda and raves about it. Very reliable and you can pick up a three or four year old model with low mileage for under three grand. Cheap to run, low insurance and great mpg.

A corsa will be fine, plenty of adjustment on the seat and wheel and plenty of headroom.

Having worked his way through a number of largish old cars our son is now able to consider a new or nearly new car for himself.

We are trying to persuade him to buy a smallish car with good running costs for his commute to work.

He maintains there are no small cars into which his 6 feet 2 inches frame will fit comfortably.

Any views on a smallish car with good headroom and reasonable running costs, please?

How about that as he is over 18 and earns his own money that you butt out of it and let him get what he wants? I'm quite sure he is capable of making his own decisions and not all people like small pokey gutless shopping trolleys regardless of whether or not they can fit into them. If he can afford it and can afford to run it, why is it any of your concern?

If my parents tried to tell me as an adult how to spend the money I had earned, they'd get told where to go.
  • I second the merc A class, fantastic wee car, small on the outside, sharp handling, economical but tons of room inside. mrs loved ours and would have another, watch out for corrosion and suspension knocks.
OTOH how old is your son? I've always loved big cars and as soon as I could afford the insurance moved up to granadas and carltons, then older 7 series beemers when I was 24, my old man kept saying I was mental but I didn't see what business of his it was. If your son likes big cars why stand in the way? Some people just don't like driving small cars.
Depends if he's living under your roof I suppose.

    :rotfl:No, I don't think I am!

Very impressed with the Fabia though - tons of room and minimal running costs with it being a 'Greenline'. Just £20 a year for road tax which is nice!
