OMG! I doubt the carvery would have got into this if they'd have realised the jealousy it would unleash! Opthalmic nurses will notice a rush of green eyed people looking squinty-eyed at them for the rest of the year at this rate.

I shall pass on the good news to my nursing colleagues and hope they enjoy their meals
You never know how far-reaching something good, that you may do or say today, may affect the lives of others tomorrow
  • Superb of Crown Carveries to do this, and not to push it in everyone's faces either. This company has gone up in my estimation.
I will let my nursing friends know.

I worked nights on the ward all Christmas so this little treat would be much appreciated. Thanks OP, great post.

    I've been Money Tipped!
I'd have missed this offer were it not for your bump.

Have forwarded onto my nursing friends.

Quite clever marketing from Crown IMO - all the friends I forwarded on to are married to non nurse spouses...a nurse and partner going out for a free nurse meal will spend on the non nurse meal and the drinks for both.

If I were a nurse, I'd go with a nurse and drink tap water :D

Such as people that work in pubs.

I bet they haven't even given their own staff a free meal as there would be no good publicity in it.

Actually, we went to our local Crown Carvery for New Year's Eve and they closed the bar between 11.45 and 12.15 so that the staff could celebrate the New Year as well - I don't think many bars would do that for their staff?

It's a shame some people don't feel that nurses deliver a "special" service, compared to many other jobs. I've been looked after by more than my fair share of nurses - a small minority not so great at their jobs, some mediocre and many whose kindness and empathy has made a tremendous difference to me at a very vulnerable and difficult time and to whom I will always be incredibly grateful to.
  • thanks op just passed this link on to my best friend who is a staff nurse am sure her and hubby would love to enjoy a well earned free meal. nurses should get free meals they do a great job and help people on a daily basis .

I don't think it's that people feel nurses don't deliver a 'special' service. That's being a little unfair. I think it's just that there are other people in hospital- support staff etc who do as good a job as nurses. Hopefully this offer applies to them all too.

BTW I am neither a nurse or support staff and I do not begrudge anyone this offer! My mum was a nurse and I could not do the job she did!
