Looking at OP-s other posts - this is not the first "bright idea to make money" ...

Just simply don't, the UK does not need anymore backyard breeders.

Puppies are cute but unfortunately are becoming disposable. If you need to ask these questions on here then you should definitely rethink.
Unless you wish to add to the incredible amount of dogs pts each and every day in the UK.

That made me chuckle. I work with an animal charity, and let me reassure you, that will never happen with the vast majority of dogs in the UK. And certainly not with Yorkies.

I've volunteered for animal charities too. But the reality is, the dogs in rescue now won't be around forever. Do you think the human species will stop owning dogs completely? I doubt it, so why not promote responsible breeders aiming to improve the health and temperament of dogs, and educate people on backyard breeders and puppymills so that in the future we can hopefully have a society that respects the need to do healthtests and breed carefully planned lines. It's not going to happen overnight, but the future of the dog as a species will take a serious nosedive if all the decent breeders stop - the BYBs and puppymills will rub their hands in glee at all the extra profit they'll be making when they're the only source for dogs in 20 years time.

I doubt OP is in it for the longhaul so it probably doesn't apply, but I don't see the point of generalising and saying all breeding is bad, as long as humans want to own dogs, we need to encourage responsible breeding.

krlyr, I didn't mean to come acrtoss that all breeding is bad, it just seems to me that the OP is not one with a 20 year plan to enhance the breed etc, certainly more of a backyard breeder. ( I maybe wrong....) I've nothing against responsible breeders - heck I wouldn't have any dogs if no-one bred any!

That is not a reason to breed from your dog. Has he been complaining about frustration? Or is he mounting your cushions in which case have him neutered.

    Sorry, what?

Your dog is a dog, it doesn't have sex for fun. If you're worried about him feeling sexually frustrated get him neutered. One bonk in his entire life won't really help.

my vet told me unneautered dogs are prone to cancer so i always have mine done male or female..i lost my first girl dog to cancer even though she was spayed,we had to have her put to sleep and it was awfull.. then there was the £1000 in medication and tests not long before she died treating her and trying to find out her problem..i,m just saying its not worth it not getting dog neutered unless you are going to breed.. also if anyone is thinking of getting a bulldog then make sure the first thing you do is get them insured as they have problem after problem. my dogs have averaged out about £1000 each year of their life at the vets, they are now in the last quater of their life so i am expecting some large bills before they die..i won,t be buying this breed again seeing the problems they have had ,its not right that they should have all this little and big problems...i,ve decided if i ever get a dog again that i am alway going to go to a shelter... i am though buying a new kitten next week from a breeder,i have been thinking about getting one these last few years and have now decided time is right...
