I don't think I've ever bought frozen peppers, but I have found that fresh ones freeze well when sliced.0

Thanks Gigervamp, i will hunt around for chunky ones, but if i cant find any, i will buy fresh and freeze them myself.0

I think it's horses for courses. Some veg (peas, beans, cauli...) are almost better frozen.
Something I do is buy from the market, cook veg dishes & freeze. My faves are curried parsnips, roasted squash and braised red cabbage. These, when bought fresh, cooked up & frozen go a long, long way, so tasty can be eaten alone or stretch a very small amount of meat.0 -
iceland peppers are bigger than tesco ones but there still pretty thinDEC GC £463.67/£450

It's been a long time since I have bought frozen vegetables - I think I may have 1/2 a bag of frozen peas lurking about in the back of my freezer somewhere. I happen to think that by and large, the supermarkets are too expensive when it comes to fruit and veg, so I will only buy seasonaally, and evne then when I find it at the right price, or seriously reduced. Otherwise I always buy from my local fruit and veg stall - open all days, all weather
- and top up from Lidl / Aldi.
If I slung everything I wanted into my supermarket basket it would cost me a fortune that I don't have!Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Hi guys.
just to let you know that i have been buying the frozen, and its saved me about £6 a week! I had forgotten how nice frozen veg is- i had gotten into the mindset that any veg (apart from fresh) is horrid, and now i know thats not true.
As well as saving money due to frozen being cheaper to buy, i am also saving money as i dont waste any due to having it in the fridge for ages and then it going bad!
That's great:DTry to be a rainbow in someone's cloud.0 -

I buy frozen peas, baby broad beans, sweetcorn and runner beans. Just bought a bag of fresh spinach which I plan on freezing, need to build up some stocks :-)
I buy fresh peppers, onions, carrots, all my root veg, everything else really. Maybe I will join you in this frozen veg adventure :-)Can't think of anything smart to put here...0 -
You've got me thinking now...I've been buying those stew packs which contain swede, parsnip, onions etc to make soup but find that I don't use everything in the pack. I'm thinking that I could prepare and freeze the leftover veg ready to use at a later date. Would I need to blanch them or could I just peel, cut and freeze please? The beautiful thing about learning is nobody can take it away from you.
Thanks to everyone who contributes to this wonderful forum. I'm very grateful for the guidance and friendliness that I always receive from you.

Cleggie have you tried freezing fresh veg that has been on offer?
I buy Aldi's super 6 or get stuff from my local farmshopchop & freeze the veg.
I've got bags of carrot, celery, leek, onion, cauliflower much cheaper than buying frozen.
A good question; does anyone else do this? Do you have to prepare the veg in any way? Or just buy it, wash it, chop and then put in a bag and freeze till needed?
At OP, if you boil frozen veg then throw the water away, you're thowing out the nutrients, so best to add to dishes frozen (as I think you said you've been doing) or steam them.0
