Buying yellow sticker/reduced 2012 challenge

GarnetLady that is amazing. The cheapest I've ever seen anything down to in Asda is 2 rolls for 10p. I wish we had bargains like that round here. You could eat like a king for pennies
I went to Tesco yesterday at 3.30 and almost nothing and what there was wasn't reduced down enough. Rubbish!Since starting again after beanie: June 2016: Child development DVDs, Massive Attack tickets. July: Aberystwyth trip, hotmilk nightie. Aug: £10 Hipp Organic vouchers, powerpack. September: Sunglasses. October: £30 poundland vouchers.0 -
Morning whoopsie hunters - thought I would share with you the goodies I managed to get yesterday. Went to a local co op - nothing to be had apart from some crumpets. Went to small T's - nothing at all worth having. Was beginning to lose heart a but decided to go to an A's on the way home. Glad I did - picked up some posh yoghurts for 5p, posh cream 5p, some pork pies for 5p, some bags of ready choped onion also 5p, chilis, spring onions, lettuce, cauliflowers, carrots all 7p and some large bags of mixed peppers 10p. 3 bags full for less than £2! I came home and made a stew for dinner and a curry for tonight which should do tomorrow as well. Its amazing what you can do when you have to - hope you all managed to get some goodies.0

Fruit and veg was already done and got -
2x ham and egg salads - 10p each
4x fruit bags - 3p each
1 pack oyster mushrooms - 5p
Then the guy was taking the meat and meals stuff away to reduce in batches, so kept an eye out and got -
Family size mince and veg pie - 40p
2 packs of cheese and onion crispbakes - 20p each
2 Extra Special roasted veg and pesto pizzas - 20p each
12 pack of sausage rolls - 30p
3 packs Extra Special cold meat (chicken and 2 ham) - 40p each
3 packs turkey sausages - 50p each
Takeaway sweet and sour chicken - 40p
Cooked chicken kebabs - 20p
3x Feasters chicken burgers - 20p each
4 minted lamb burgers - 40p
2x cheese and onion pasties - 10p each
Then just as we got to the bakery, a trolley load was wheeled out so from there -
2 onion baguettes - 29p
2 packs cheese scones - 6p each
Apple turnovers - 10p
Strawberry cupcakes - 12p
So a really good trip, and we shared it out with my mum and dad.
Hi Garnett lady - You did really well on your whoopsie hunt. What time did you visit your A's? I had a good look round mine but the bread/cake items weren't reduced and I didn't see any meat type things either.0 -
Good morning all. Looks like you all got lots of whoopsies at the weekend and did well. Unfortunately, quite a bit of snow in Kent so didn't enter one supermarket at the weekend - must be a record for me. I am getting withdrawal symptoms for whoopsies. Will try my luck today and report back. Only going to tesco - they are very mean with their reductions recently. Peope seem to be clearing the shelves at half price fruit/veg so nothing left for mega reductions.0

Hi everyone, is there room in here for another?
I love the idea of trying this out- maybe not for every food, but definitely meat and anything else i can get!
Just wondering (and sorry if someone has already asked this) where do i find what time of day/night the supermarkets do reductions, especially the big ones?
I only have a Mr T (which i find rubbish for reductions), C00p and spar in my town.0 -
Hi Cleggie - generally speaking for me the best time is 7.30-8pm best days Tuesday and Wednesday (doesn't seem to be as much competition on these evenings). But you are best going to your own stores at various times and decide for yourself. Even when you think you have it sussed you can go and come back with nothing. It depends on how much produce they have left, how much competition and staff available to sticker. If you go too early the reductions aren't much, if you go too late someone has been before you and swiped the lot - there is a large amount of luck involved.
My OH was passing morries yesterday and, after seeing the bargains I have come home with, decided to do a yellow sticker hunt. He said it was awful, swarms of people pushing, shoving and grabbing, especially around the cream cakes. I have never seen this before but i don't often go on a Sunday because its too busy. So I now have made a mental note to give Sunday a miss as there is too much competition. HTH0 -
Thanks Flippin, that's much appreciated!
I was going to going to morrisons in the next town today, to get somer chicken for tomorrows dinner (sweet and sour), but thought i'd check in the local c00p instead.
Found 2 packs of chicken breast, both reduced from £4 down to £2.65. Also 6 bread rolls (for burgers at the weekend) for 49p, reduced from £1. So popped it all in the freezer.
Not massive bargains, but i'd like to think its OK for a first try!!
I am going to start going in at about 7.30pm and see how it goes from there.
Can i ask another question please? Sorry if its a stupid one- when you go into a supermarket to specifically look for whoopsies/reduced, do you feel obligated to buy something so that you dont walk out empty handed?
I went into Spar to see if they had any reductions, they hadnt, and i felt obligated to buy something...so bought some freezer bags!0 -

No no no, don't buy anything else. Never ever buy more than what you went in for. Be hard faced about it. To shop frugally means to walk out empty handed if they haven't got what you want, at the price you want to pay for it.
IlonaI love skip diving.0 -

I walked in t's the other night went to the reduced veg, then meat then bread and there was nothing worth picking up so i walked out with my empty trolley. Your not doing anything wrong at all-think about the people who go in just to use the toilet0 -
Thanks guys.
I dont know why i have a problem with leaving without having bought something...i think they may think i am stealing or something!!!
So, thats my new rule- DONT BUY ANYTHING if the dont have what i want!!!
Thanks for helping me out.0
