Buying yellow sticker/reduced 2012 challenge

Hi just been to morries for the usual lunch time deals as she marks them down I stand and wait:rotfl::rotfl: but I overheard the SA saying that she can't wait for february to arrive because they will no longer being doing them at lunch time and def not at that low price:eek: she said they had to have a percentage mark up even on the yellow stickers and they were being told off for selling them at 'silly prices' and so back to the odd 50p off here and there from feb onwards, oh I was gutted:rotfl: I have become so used to both freezers being full to the brim, I am having a curry night for 6 next weekend and the whole lot of various curries, the mango dips, the bread etc will have cost me less than a £10 try getting that at your local takeaway, and I have the hottest to the mildest so everyone will be happy:D
As I was leaving they had 65 cheeses and they were discussing what to mark them down to, the SA said it could be no lower than £1.75, then a customer came over and said well they are not going to shift for that price as you have them on sale around the other aisle for cheaper than that per kilo, the SA replied she knew that they would not go for that price but she was not able to reduce anymore because head office would not allow it, she did say some of the items can have discretionary prices to them that they have to have a % off but some of the stock has been goi ng at silly prices and she has made her mission into trying to get said items discontinued so that they never went down to the daft prices.
Not good for the customer, good for morries but not for us.
If all the morries plans go ahead it will impact heavily on my monthly shopping bill again, dreading it;)0 -

Thanks for that Skintmum, there are some lamb chops waiting to get reduced tonight and wont be able to get to shop till 8 so will prob be gone
Not had a bit of lmb in a while, hopefully someone else gets a bargain, am happy that I got some steaks as rarely get them.
hopefully yourself and everyone else has a good day at the reduced bits to make up for my abstinence.
EDIT - Victory, not so good newsstock up while you can, I do sometimes make a few curries, last time made about 5/6 for 2 of us !!! Had some(lots) of leftovers for next couple days and some for freezer. Used some stew steak, some chicken all about 10-20p and a nice half leg of lamb for £5 reduced from mr S, not the cheapest but was worth it as it was lovely.
Hope you enjoy your curry night anyway0 -
Hi all, I went to Mr T's last night and was very lucky with the meat reductions. Large packs of minced beef down to £1, 8 pork chops for £2, pilau rice 22p, braising steak £1 and a large roasting joint for £2. I was also lucky enough to get some loose ham so that's for dinner tonight with left over (reduced) new potatoes which I'm currently roasting in the oven with onions, garlic and a drizzle of olive oil.
Was very happy indeed but the lady doing the reductions treated me like a pest and if she had looked over the top of her glasses at me just once more ..... !
Hope everyone else has been just as lucky xx0 -
Haven't been very lucky with yellow stickers this week. Very little on the fruit and veg shelf in tesco today. What's there is very overpriced in the first place. Pinkpauline - did you new potatoes roast well? Last time I tried roasting new ones they weren't as good as when I roast old ones. Tried sainsbury and waitrose earlier on weds and absolutely nothing there. Perhaps next week I will be lucky. Did meet another mse though looking at the christmas reductions like me hoping for some 1p items but no luck.0

went to 2 asdas and tesco today and got mega bargains.
2 x crispy duck down to 68p and a large chicken 1.70 (it's cooking in the slow cooker at the moment)
next asda
garlic nan 5p
3 x kofta curries (from curry counter) 25p were £3 each
1 sagg aloo 20p
1 dawali handi 20p
garlic cooked chicken from rotisserie 1.30
2 x chicken and bacon sandwich fillers 40p each should have been 2 for £3
then in tesco wandered across the meat reductions as the lady reduced it to 90% off
so got 3 x £6 chicken breasts for 60p each
1 x chicken thigh fillets for 27p (2.70)
1 x diced venison for 50p (5.00)
was fab as only me and another bloke there and hubby said everyone else was fighting over the chilled stuff:T
now need to squash it in the freezer:rotfl::love: married to the man of my dreams! 9-08-090 -

Best reductions are in M&S but you have to be rugby player to even get close to the shelves0 -
Morning guys
weirdly all this talk of curry made slimming world tikka masala yesterday
used
chicken thighs 4pack reduced to£1 each used 2 so £2
reduced fresh pilau rice reduced from £1.59 to 20p.
natural yogurt-lidls think 49p.
indian frozen party fare indian selection reduced to 49p co-op.
So guess £1.50each but was huge and tasty cant get readymeal for that amount.
Will morries not even do silly prices at end of day?
unsure if to go up there again as had 1 night sucess and 1 dissapointment!
would go up co-op today but skint.
what time do sainsburys do mega reductions? as never seen in mine and mines big shuts at 10pm.
rarly see reductions m&s
we are so skint have 19days to payday
but we have lots on cupboard and freezers.
least 2months worth of bread although slowly going down.
but we need more butter-look in spar for reduced.
more milk
more cereal
more fruit
potatoes
eggs.
sandwich fillings
Then think we be ok but have to meal plan next 18days today.
got reduced sausages/mince and fish so thats least 3days
doing homemade soup from carcass.
I think we be ok wil join eat cupboads/freezer challange.
will still be looking out for odd bits reduced at co-op and spar but not able to buy same voloume.
debating on trying morries mon night as be so happy if can get 50quids worth for £4!
listed some stuiff on netmums if sell few things go on great reduced hunt.
think we need to spend another £20-30max to see us comfortable.
making my monthly total over budget slightly at £230 however we were spending 350 -400 and car passed its mot miracle!
Think next month will have to hit butchers as finding reduced meat harder to find,
will also hit farmfoods do good frozen shop as struggling to find reduced veg in co-op.
Well done everyone on bargains and happy hunting!pad by xmas2010 £14,636.65/£20,000::beer:

Gaily I have just got back from Waitrose where I used to weekend guides to get the free milk. It was quite funny I went in and took 4 of the free mags went to the milk torn them out and then gave hubby one and a 2 pint milk bottle and he went and got that I went and got one and 20 mins later went back again. The cashiers did not seem to know what to do when it came up free lol. So i have got 6 pints of free milk bonus.February GC £261.97/24 NSDS 10/12
