Hi all sorry for dropping in on the conversation, i have been chatting with the wife over the last few days about these hols, she is not so keen however i have been to a Haven caraven park down newquay cornwal a fewa years back and i would love to see a cheap holiday this year.
biggest thing is affordability, so first of all do i just go ahead and buy the sun every day?
or do i somehow get these codes??
i hear you have got to get a code every day then crack the last code, then send them off online and get a priority booking form?? have i got that right?
anyway, i think someone else tried to ask a similar question but i will rephrase the question:
PRICES:: can anyone tell me aprox how much it will cost after buying the paper... per head based on 2 adults and 2 children under 5, admission to the parks?? i know they may vary so whats the cheapest??
food?? can you buy on site ??
    petrol?
this seems crazy i know as only myself and wife would know that you would have thought... ,let me tell you this!!! my wife is very very scaty and worries so much about finances that she can't justify spending £10 on a holiday and save a £100 for expenditure, but she don't mind blowing £30 on a new clothes that just so happen to be on a sale!!
so my point is if i can somehow explain to here that these sun holidays are only as cheap or expensive as you make em then we will be fine with money.
    your confused!!
can anyone tell me where we can go as a family on a bugget of say £150 ?
thanks in advance and apologies for the whittling on:o

If you have never been on a Sun Holiday before then you won't have been send a priority code, this means you must collect the actual tokens from the Sun Newspaper, cut them out until you have 10, then fill in the form and sent it off.
You can't do Priority/Online booking unless you have the code and the only way to get one is to go on a Sun Holiday through the postal application, then you will get one sent to you next year, unless you know someone who has a code and who isn't going to use it then you could use theirs.

last yr when the code word was cracked for the late autumn winter breaks several different code words were found that worked, I found one myself
from feedback it seems people using different codes were offered different dates online !
I always buy the code words then sell them on ebay or give them away

we go 3 -4 times a year all over the UK from Scotland to Isle of Wight ( shame Isle of Man has no sites - gap in the market eh ?) the chalets are always lacking
we go abroad once a year and am looking at switzerland /austria / croatia next yr so any feedback would be appreciated.

I use petrolprices.com , we take food, look for a local lidl etc ...
we went to butlins before christmas which was lovely, we had a budget of £100 including petrol , bought a few multipack sweeties / crisps / squash
so packed lunches, took our own drinks, bought a token drink at the bar , but they were expensive, errr took my own drink in a coke bottle or had a drink while geting ready
popped my own popcorn for the shows ( 89p for a packet done myself fresh and £3+ at bar and how old ? = no brainer )
times are hard and we want to go away and enjoy life so we all make the best with what we have.

my little one calls these places 'The Village' and she loves going, playing with other kids, the evening entertainment etc...
we love the fact that taking a noisy 6 yr old, we are not disturbing people as we would in a hotel with her banging around, its a base to sleep in while we explore new areas around the UK.

    we loved in particular
greenacres north wales , haven seton sands scotland , devon cliffs (flagship) ,park resorts isle of wight ,haven perran sands cornwall, haven caister gr yarmouth, butlins , and camber sands kent as I love dungeness for some bizarre reason !!
la croix de vieux pont was nice nr paris,I didn't hear enough feedback to go to chene or international.

  • Hi everyone,
not new to this site but new to the forum :)

We took out first sun holiday in October at a Haven in Weymouth, it was ok but from what I hear there are lots of other parks that are better, for the money I would rather have booked Butlins because there is more to do for our teenagers.

But my main question is when booking online does the 7 night option appear for uk breaks, I don't recall seeing it when I booked last year?

    Thanks x
  • So can only sun perks members use the code word GLOW?
  • I used sun codes to go to Pointins at Camber Sands last October half term. After seeing Watchdog and the horrendous reports of Pontins I called Pontins with my concerns.
When I got there my room was lovely and they even left me a complimentary bottle of wine. They told me they were closing after our holiday and redoing the accommodation, which they had already started.
The entertainment was fantastic for the kids, I won £20 Pontins pounds in the fancy dress! The swimming pool was freezing though. However the beach is right across the road and it is miles of sand. We went self catering and did a come dine with me every day as we did not want to pay extra for the food.
The newly refurbished chalets looked nice, so I would say go and if you are concerned call them.
I can only speak for Camber where I went.

Wanting to go to Norfolk this year - not sure where yet.

    Happy Holidays
  • hey all.....I have gone to Holland Duinrell many times now thanks to the sun holidays, I find that having kids means I run out of money fast and when I stay here, I know I dont have to worry cos the park is free to use and keeps the kids happy when I run out of cash usually on the last day.....well worth going and the park is beautiful and great for long walks round the local town and areas, I cant rate this place highly enough!!!! hope you all get your park choice and thanks for having me here :) xxx

Yeah, im a priority booker for the last 3 years, but coz i live in ireland, my choice is limited to 2 parks.
of course i can have a uk mainland holiday but then that runs into hundreds of pounds for flights or ferry crossings.

but what annoys me is, the promotion is not running here, no mention of it in todays paper!
so it looks like ill be relying on you guys with the code words and ill join in on the code word game on the monday!!!
  • I'm new to this forum but have priority booking which has arrived in the post :-) I'm hoping to go away with my sister and family tho and there will be too many of is for one booking. Unfortunately she doesn't get priority booking as she's never had a sun holiday before. So that we can be guaranteed same site and date I wondered of anyone would be kind enough to share their priority reference number if they are not using it this time round? Many thanks
  • Cannot wait to book this again! Weve been to Reighton sands in Filey, Yorkshire and Hafan Y Mor in Wales. We want to go to Greenacres in Porthmadog this time in the June holidays so fingers crossed!!
