If freezing anything you might want to slice later (like the ys pitas), it might be easier tyo slice them before freezing?

Can anyone tell me the best way to split a pitta bread? I can never manage it and I just end up with a torn mess that won't hold anything!0

I pop mine in the toaster and watch it until it starts to puff up. I have also done this in the microwave, but I prefer the crunch the pitta gets from being lightly toasted.
Once it starts to puff up I pull it out and cut in half down the middle of the pitta, et voila 2 nice pitta pockets to fill with whatever you fancy. Hope that helps0 -
I've recently bought some round pittas and they much betterHave a Bsc Hons open degree from the Open University 2015 :j:D:eek::T0

Every packet of pittas performs differently. Some are always bad, some are good.
What I do is toast them in the toaster - turning them 1-2x and waiting for them to puff up. Then I plop them onto a plate and simply slice the entire strip off. I then open the pitta and shove the cut off strip inside to cool down the insides (because usually I am about to fill them with cold cheese or cold egg mayo.
Not "slit" like a kebab shop .... but much easier.0 -
Sometimes I use scissors0

I also toast them, I do find the own brand versions tend to fuse together when cut though.0
