Green Thumb

I did call greenthumb but he could not do anything until I sorted out the bare patches. I had to sow grass seeds & ask him to come back when the grass has grown over the bare patches. The lawn looks ok now, not much moss. I did not call him again to do the work but found his advice was very helpful0

Hmm..after looking at what other people here are paying I think I'm being ripped off.
My garden is about 100m2 and I'm getting charged £34 a visit. Location is Oxfordshire. Greenthumb is franchised so maybe each franchisee can charge what they want.
Pleased with the results though.0 -
Their quite good and to buy the stuff your self is almost as dear, and you dont have to do it yourself. but dont expect miracles, if your lawn is that bad, you need a new lawn, thier treatment my kill "Some" moss, but wont remove it. You wont get weeds, though0

I've been using them since January, and my lawn is now almost completely weed-free and looking lush and verdent. The down side is that I've had to cut it a lot more frequently!
My neighbour's [STRIKE]lawn[/STRIKE] grass is full of weeds so it's always been a struggle to keep my lawn weed-free, and since I moved in I've been buying and applying my own feed and weed stuff with limited success. Greenthumb managed it in one visit, and at £14 a time it's almost as cheap as buying the stuff myself - although I believe their chemicals are stronger than we can buy as members of the public.
It took about a month before there was a noticable difference as the weeds died and the grass grew, but that was in early spring when growth is slower anyway.

I've got them coming in January to do some aeration because I've got a few areas that are badly compacted and turn brown in summer, as well as a bit of moss in the shaded area. It isn't cheap, but hopefully it'll make a difference.0 -

I personally always avoid this kind of company as their work is not based on getting the best job done, but on making the sucstomer THINK they are getting the best job done. Effectively they are charging anything from £60-100+ for a treatment regime. This only needs 1 visit per year. If your lawn is very mossy then a couple of visits to allow for moss removal too. They use very cheap products that don't encourage long term healthy grass growth but short term soft growth.0 -

If I could find a gardener that charges less than £5 a month to look after my lawn then obviously I would employ them instead - but I can't.
I do find it a little hard to believe that one treatment a year would be as effective as multiple treatments, especially with regard to weed control (which is my main problem).0
