Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Tuesday 3rd January. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well

Morning all, couldn't see the thread, so hope haven't cross posted. Yesterday was a bit chaotic! Took car load of rubbish to the skip and decided to call in on camper van (in outside storage!). Found that we'd had some visitors of the 4 legged kind - grrrrrrr. So after I'd cleaned all the mouse poo up and swept everywhere I had to take 5 loads of dirty things for the washing machine and all the pots and pans which needed washing. Result is that although the washing is done, the house looks like a chinese laundry with things hanging everywhere! Then I did half the ironing which was a result!
So today my plan is to put away all the dried washing (I have the dehumidifier going to help!), get the rest of the ironing done, and minimum - clear the sitting room and take the rubbish to the skip again!!! Have just got milk out of the freezer and tonights tea will be uuummmmmmm eggs (we've plenty) and salad - perhaps we'll have eggs & chips - yummy after all the rich food of christmas! Will do my hour of exercise today - even if its taking the boys and dogs out for a walk in the wild weather! Hope you all stay safe in this wind. xxxMe, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

Morning - back to work day for me so I really wanted a lie in!
Will call in on the dump on the way in as got another two bags of tat to dispose of. I feel very virtuous about getting rid of so much useless stuff though I think there is more to go.
Breakfast almost sorted, lunchbox made up and no clothes needing washing. I'm trying to only do a white and a coloured wash each week and find it's easier in winter.
I'll be glad to get into a proper routine again.
Happy new week to everyone.0 -
Wild, wet and windy here. Have walked the woofer but only did half our usual circuit as we were both fed up with being wet and blown about. Back to school for me today so i'm just having breakfast and then on with the day. Hope all of those who are returning to work have a good day.:)£180.00 in 'sistercas'fund
Hope is like the sun, which, as we journey toward it, casts the shadow of our burden behind us.

Morning all,
Blowing a gale here too, meant to be raining but none of that yet, I am sure it will come later on, so I am glad I got all the washing dried yesterday.
Not back at work till tomorrow, but I have some of my 2nd job to do, which I do at home, so thought I would get up early and get it done, and then have the rest of the day to ourselves.
Dinner tonight will be mince in gravy and mash and veg, real comfort food, oh had gone back to work today,so a nice meal will cheer him up.
Need to hoover through this morning, and prep dinner, tidy lounge and bathroom, I also need to nip to the local shop for cheese, they do huge blocks really cheap and its nice strong cheddar.
OK better get on, have good days all xx0 -
Good Morning All
Weather sounds horrible outside, dont think I have to go out today thankfully!
OH is back at work but both kids home until tomorrow, so today will just potter around and see what gets done and tomorrow will start organising my life in earnest.
One thing I cannot ignore any longer is the ironing pile, its a little scary to say the least
So this morning will get essential office work done, a general quick tidy up and hoover and hopefully iron this afternoon catching up with sky+.
Have a chicken defrosted so think will have roast will all the trimmings, really need to menu plan as well.
Hope you all have a good day and stay safe in this weather.x0 -

Morning :hello:
I felt very sorry for miss tru this morning - she left for work at quarter to six. It's very windy here, and raining.
Master tru is back with his girlfriend. Dammit.
I'm a bit bored this morning. I've sorted the fridge out (didn't clean it though, couldn't be bothered), grated a load of cheese and given my gadgets a good clean. I've also updated the speadsheets, december's bank statement arrived a few days ago so I was just going to do that but thought well, while this one's open I may as well get stuck into the rest. Barring any emergencies, I can tell you exactly how much will be in my account on any day, up to the end of this yearIt's put me in the mood for organising, so I'll spend the day sorting and rearranging.

Morning everyone
Love and hugs to those that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x
Very blustery here this morning. DH up and off to work early but not stupid early so he brought me a cuppa in bed before he left. I'm back to work today too, we start on our new opening hours today so it's going to seem strange finishing work at 4.15pm - just hope we can get all the customers out the door (don't hold out much hope on that one!!).
DH has just phoned and said he's heard on the radio that human remains have been found at Sandringham, (not on the estate but in the area around there) Police are investigating.
Dinner yesterday was LO's of various sorts - seem to go down ok with everyone. Tonight it will be quickies but not sure what - am now getting low on some things so need to s-t-r-e-t-c-h what I have. Have done a menu plan in accordance with what food I do have so should be able to get to the end of the week ok as long as I remember to get what I need out of the freezer at the relevant time:)
The dirty washing basket seems to be multiplying on its own, just can't seem to get it empty at the moment - that will be a "to do" job from tomorrow afternoon so at least I can get it empty before the kids go back to school properly on Monday, they are actually going back on Friday for one day, but they have a new school building and the day is aimed at them being shown round etc so on Monday it's straight into a normal school day.
Hugs to those that want/need them, keep safe and well x

Morning all. Weather sounds horrible, looked outside and it's still pitch black.
I'm off to work in a mo, got LO soup for lunch and dinner will be LO beef stew. I've been stuck for how to revamp a stew lately, more kidney beans and spice to make chilli? I don't have much inspiration. Have a good day everyone ((hugs))Living cheap in central London :rotfl:0 -
Good morning everyone, wild weather here in Kent as well, blowing a hooley out there.Just off to DDs to look after the two youngest who don't go back to school until tomorrow.Looks like its going to be a 'craft' day with all the rain and wind.Hope everyone is all o.k. and life is getting back to normal again.Started knitting a water bottle cover to use up some odds and ends of wool last night and its looking good ( think Joseph and his amazing technicolours
:))
I must make a nice birthday card for DDs sis-in-law as she was so hospitible over the New Year and its her birthday on Friday.
Right I'm off to battle the elements DDs dogs won't like being put out in the garden for a leek in this weather but its far too wet to walk them.
Cheers chums, JackieO xx0
