Found out earlier today that my friend has had her baby this morning at 25 weeks. She has had a dreadful year - her husband has testicular cancer which has spread to his lungs, this was an ivf baby which they concieved before her husbands cancer was discovered. She is only 28 and he is 29.

I just feel so sad about it all - they are such a lovely couple and so many horrible things have happened to them.

Hopefully the baby will be ok but I know when that premature there are likely to be problems.

omg your poor friend, my son was a 27wker 10 yrs ago and they have advanced in medicine even more since then, hoping her little one is okay, will have to take one day at a time, i know when i had mine i needed positivity about me and people there to listen if i needed to talk, my sister said she wouldn't send anything or visit until he was a few wks old 'just in case' which really upset me, but she's obviously got a caring friend in you. Your poor friend, how stressful and sad. Just wanted to let you know my cousin had her boy at just 25 weeks. He was very unwell and in hospital for 8 months in total, then on a oxygen tank for a few more months. He nearly died twice in hospital. However, he is now a very lively 3 year old, who is walking and starting to talk. I am not sure of the extent of his medical problems as his parents are such positive people they never discuss this. I think it helps that they have a strong faith, and relentlessly positive family around them. Your friend has a very difficult road in front of her, but it can have a happy ending x

Your poor friend. The best thing you can do is be there for her when she needs you. Go visit her and the baby.

On the plus side my godson was born that early and he's a thriving 6 year old now!

Why is it hat these awful things happen all at once for some people? My cousin's daughter had beautiful identical twin girls on the 28th December, the next day she found that her son had been found dead in his flat and probably died in the 28th. Just not fair is it!
