Ah, but was she actually going to the toilet in there? I often visit public loos to get a bit of tissue or even have a little cry (knickers on!)... I do get quite paranoid that someone will judge me for coming out and leaving again :rotfl:

Badger Lady, consider the previous occupant of your cubicle who might have had a dump, wiped her rear end and then opened the door using the same hand as had just wiped her rear end before washing her hands and then wonder whether you should always wash your hands when leaving the cubicle.

I work with little kids - have you ever seen the state of a nursery class toilets after a session? Despite bugging them to wash their hands, catching them on the way out and sending them back in to do it again, and constant chain flushing.... cripes if I sat and worried about the germs flying around from everyone else and what the rest of the planet was up to I'd be a gibbering wreck by now! Wash mine - and don't worry about the rest of the world - and as for door handles - think they did research into things like shared office keyboards, phones and the like and they were much much more disgusting - and I'm rarely ill, don't have to spend a fortune on disinfectant gel, and stress free cos I'm not fretting about what the rest of the world does.

I am a cleaner in a gym and spend most of my time cleaning the changing rooms and toilets. I would say it's about 50/50 when it comes to handwashing, it's the older generation that don't seem to bother or they will stick one hand under the tap for a split second.

Agreed ~ I do the same job as you and by my observations would say the same. Men less so though :/

I think sometimes when they see someone else is around they are more likely to wash their hands though rather than be seen to be a soap-dodger!

    Yes, quite :D

Tasty, but difficult to digest :p

So in an answer to the original question, no I don't wash them when I have a wee and every time I feel like scratching my balls, I don't wash them then either.
And when I touch a keyboard I don't wash them then either!

    I'm just a walking germ factory :p

ps, I also don't allow anything antibacterial in the house and funnily enough, not only are we all still here, but perfectly healthy as well. I just don't understand it.

I wash my hands every time I go to the loo except if I have to go behind a tree! Some public facilities leave a lot to be desired though.

I wash my hands every time I use a loo but see many instances where women just don't bother. Probably men don't either but I've not been in the mens' toilets to check!

I keep a bacterial gel in my car and one in my handbag. I'm not OCD but I'm careful.

  • I do. There's a new restaurant near me, it has male and female toilets that lead onto a communal room with sinks. The men look very inconvenienced about having to wash their hands because the ladies are looking LOL.

I'd love to be like you :). I admit to being an emetophobe (fear of sick) so am definitely more obsessive about germs than 'normal' people.

As for keyboards, recently a work colleague asked for some help and I had to sit at their laptop. I thought they had a 'starry night' as the screensaver until I looked more closely and realised it was where they had coughed and sneezed all over it (including the keyboard). I then had to use it to sort their problem out. :eek:_pale__pale_. (Quick run to the anti-viral hand gel.....)

Albeit I do so for hygiene reasons (rather than worrying what weirdo might be watching me go to and from the toilets). I would be more perturbed by someone hanging around a lavatory checking that people do.

I have no doubt not everyone washes their hands after use, akin to chefs not washing after touching raw foodstuff, but would not ask my friends whether or not they do, for much the same reason I would not be watching complete strangers to see how many do or don't.
