Are there any other opinions on these mattresses, esp from posters that have used them for a while?
I didn't find it hot, it didn't have any chemical smell and looks a quality mattress, the removable washable cover is good quality too. The service from the seller was very good, with good information and excellent delivery with tracking by Yodel with a 2 hr delivery slot.
We bought the Kingsize which is rated as medium and managed only three nights, three very sleepless and uncomfortable nights . We both got up on the mornings hardly able to move, our lower spines, neck and shoulders ached terribly and I have no other way of describing it other than all our limbs felt 'heavy'.
We have had a memory foam topped spring mattress for about 5 yrs and never thought we would encounter theses problems. Unfortunatley it appears its not for us, obviously some people love them. I think it is the fact that the mattress moulds around the heavier bits of you and it is difficult to turn or move.
We are really dissapointed as the reviews were so positive, I hope others find theirs more suitable than we did.:hello: “Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away” anon.0 -

Has anyone tried a tempur mattress? I havent but if I was to buy a memory foam mattress it would be a tempur but you are talking £1200 for a double but IMO you get what you pay for.
i had the luxury of sleeping on a tempurpedic bed for 3 months and it was the best thing EVER for all my back and knee problems. i've never had such good sleep and i wish i could afford one myself.
for now i have a 2 inch memory foam warehouse topper on top of the failing mattress furnished by the landlord. memory foam warehouse is having a sale on full matresses with or without the headboard/frame for £149 so i'm considering doing that and begging my landlord to remove the old bed as i'm starting to have sleep issues again but i'm fairly certain it's due to the miserable state of the mattress below the topper
if heat is an issue memory foam may not be a great choice, if aches and pains are a serious issue i cannot recommend it highly enough!0 -
I've just read in an earlier post that you can't use an electric blanket with a memory foam mattress, I've had my mattress for about 2 months and have been using one most nights. Does anyone know the reason you are are not supposed to use one.
Thanks
I think it's because the electric blanket will soften the memory foam too much, therefore reducing the support from the mattress. It's probably alright in moderation.0 -

Do healthbeds and Kaymed use identical foam to Tempur
I was under impression that only Tempur used the type of foam used in their mattresses. I maybe wrong of course
Just checked out both and it looks like thay have springs under the foam is that right
They all use Visco elastic or memory foam, is it identical, I doubt it. But has very very similar properties that's for sure. Tempur will not even say that it's memory foam, they will jazz it up by saying that it's Nasa produced temperature sensitive material or something along those lines. Tempur just want to be exclusive to justify it's high price tag.
Healthbeds and Kaymed do a range of products, some sprung with foam and some foam only. If memory serves me correctly a Healthbeds product beat Tempur in a test by "Which" about 4 years ago.Helping the country to sleep better....ZZZzzzzzzz0 -

Can you point me to the article please.
How did it beat it?
you seem to know much more than me about mattresses
Is £1200 a high price to pay for 10 years of quality sleep?
As said I have no experience of mattresses just pillows
I tried various cheap memory foam pillows and they have all been rubbish. I now use a tempur pillow £80 ish but it is great0 -
I received mine two days ago and I have to say the first night sleeping on it was restless as I woke every hour and had lower back pain. This morning however I woke up feeling great but not sure whether the few beers consumed at the pub had any bearing on the soundness of my sleep and I suppose only time will tell.0

Sorry I can't find the article online anywhere, think Which have started to charge for the use of their name, But test was done August 2008.
Personally £1200 for 10 years sleep is not high, but then again I sell beds and mattresses for a living and have done for nearly 15 years now.
I'm just saying that Tempur are over priced for what they are. Very few people that already have a Tempur will ever say I don't like it. Why? Because would you really admit to yourself that you've spent over £1,000 and don't like it?
It's physiological (correct word?) I see it most weeks when my customers try our most expensive bed. Before they even try it they see the price ticket and just assume that it'll be wonderful before they even get on it.
Have you tried the Kaymed Pillows? They are a few some at £40 and some at £50.
Mr Angry it can take quite a few weeks to get "used" to a new mattress, especially if the old one was un-supportive.Helping the country to sleep better....ZZZzzzzzzz0 -

.
Havent tried kaymed pillows, are they the same density as Tempur and do you know what stores stock them.
Found normal shape Kaymed pillows for £20 online and the "shaped" ones for £40, would like to go somewhere to try them
Hope you still reading this thread as it is a few days since anyone posted0 -
I got a memory foam mattress a year ago this month. It took about a week to get used to it, I did think I had made a terrible mistake to start with as I was getting so hot. You do adjust and now I would not have anything else. I no longer wake up feeling like a bent over old lady, no more pains. I could not get on with the pillows so I have always used regular ones.
I did a lot of research and got one from here http://www.memory-mattress.co.uk/index.php?webpage=New_Generation_Mattresses
It did cost over £400 and was the 25cm deep one.
Personally I would not go for a super cheap one unless it was a decent one reduced, but I can certainly vouch for the 25cm deep one on this site. The chap is a one man band if I remember and I sent him loads of question before I bought it, he was really helpful.0
