Any reason why he couldn't just pull into the rigth hand lane and overtake?

There's no overtaking in the tunnel (double white line), plus a pretty steady stream of traffic at around 40mph so he would have had a job pulling out.

My gripe is those idiots who believe that existing motorway travellers have to pull over to allow the vehicle to join the motorway from a sliproad.

I always try to pull over if safe to do so and with a car (volume of traffic permitting) it is usually quite easy to do so as you have reasonable acceleration and if you have to slow down, you can easily pull away again.

What really was annoying was when I used to drive trucks as a living and with 40 odd ton of machine, you just did not have the ability to pull away or pull over into the next lane safely (as not to impede the flow) to allow the car to enter the motorway.

The number of times I used to get fingers stuck up at me, horns and light ablazing because I did not 'pull over' to let them onto the motorway - I can assure them it was not deliberate - but it was an element of ignorance and lack of appreciation on their part on 1) the rules of the road and 2) the limitations of a fully laden truck.

And don't get me going on those drivers who (after managing to move over to let them onto the motorway) will put their foot down and leave you in the outer lane like a fool.

I think this thread has highlighted the clowns who use our roads - although I appreciate that many of us knew that anyway!

SHIPSHAPE;50350745The Highway Code is a guide, the law is the law. Big diff.

Incorrect

In fact, many of the rules in the Highway Code are legal requirements so your assertion does not wash I'm afraid.

Furthermore, as with most codes of practice, they have a special status in law - ignore them at your peril.

In case anyone does not know the difference:

Rules in the HC that say you 'must' (or must not) imply a legal obligation.

Rules that say you 'should' (or should not) imply that you may break the rule at your discretion but that if you do there is a prima facie case for careless (or worse) driving - irrespective of whether or not an accident ensues.
There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.

Don't forget the bikers weaving between both lanes ;)

Unless the Audi driver had joined at the last minute (off the A13) he's had chances to get into the outside lane before entering the tunnel. Let me guess... as soon as you got out of the Tunnel and the third lane reappears, he screams off up the A102 at 60 (even though it's still a 30 limit there and only becomes 50 at the start of the elevated section)? Or did he swing left and head up to the O2 at 45?
I need to think of something new here...
• If you sat behind me flashing your lights I can promise you I'd go slowerjust to spite you for being an ignorant b@st@rd.If you are going faster than the traffic in the inside lane, then you have theright to go around them in the middle lane. If someone wants to go faster thanthe middle lane, they have the right to do so in the outside lane. If theoutside lane isn't moving fast enough for you, grin and bear it as poo happens.
No one has to surrender the road to you because you want to fly up it at100mph like some moronic !!!!!!, riding everyone's rear end and flashing yourlights. Sorry, but this is a completely idiotic statement. I drive quite fastas a rule, and if you ran up behind me flashing your lights at me while I wasalready going over the speed limit I'm afraid I would likely slow down and flipyou the middle finger in my rear view. I have window tints so your brightlights make me no never mind.
The speed limit is 70mph. Anything above that is a personal risk to chooseto take anyway but if people want to go faster than the flow of traffic in theother lanes at their own risk, it's not up to you to decide they don't belongthere and should move over to suit your need to speed. You sound like a rightmoron. Likely one of those idiots riding right up on the car in front. You'regoing to go into the back of someone some day, paying more attention to yourfrustration and flashing your stupid lights and it's going to be all yourfault. What if something happened up ahead and the car in front your riding andflashing at had to slam on its brakes? You're expected to be in control of yourmotor vehicle and following at a safe distance. It would be your fault and Ifor one, while generally against the sue everything that moves culture in thiscountry, would love to see you sued within an inch of solvency.

Middle lane idiots....what planet are they on.. ..really bad drivers who should stick to A roads...You can see them with both hands stuck rigid to the steering wheel looking like they are petrified..I wish police would prosecute the idiots....I give such people a very wide berth because they are very very dangerous drivers..
It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.

Can I please have a gripe about the bell ends who drive a light coloured metalic car (silver, silver grey, pale blue etc.) in heavy rain and spray with no lights on. What colour is your car? What colour is the wet road? They are near enough the same and we can't see you very well unless you have your lights on. You selfish stupid bell end.
