Certain people will react differently in difficult and stressful situations but I am talking about someone's everyday driving style not one off incidents. The fact that Ste is thanking your posts makes me think that I probably won't have a sensible discussion with you. I disagree totally with 95% of what he posts. So I'll just leave you to it.0 -

There speaks the voice of reason. You won't believe how happy I feel about sharing a motorway with such a safe, considerate driver.I'd love a shotgun for middle lane hoggers. In fact, forget middle lane hoggers, anyone that drives a Prius should be boiled alive, either that or forced to have the exhaust of my supercharged 4.2 V8 inserted into their rectum whilst I rev a load of 95RON out.

Personally, I'd rather share the road with someone who makes way OTT comments on a forum than someone who tailgates, flashes, lane hogs, etc.
One form of showing your frustration is safe and the rest aren't.There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -
From the highway code, (the section on pedestrians rules 1-35) I give you the first rule of the road:
1
Pavements (including any path along the side of a road) should be used if provided. Where possible, avoid being next to the kerb with your back to the traffic. If you have to step into the road, look both ways first. Always show due care and consideration for others.
Or did you mean some other first rule?
Dave
The first rule of the road (not of the HC) is to keep left unless overtaking. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Right-_and_left-hand_trafficSorry, what?
When you overtake another vehicle you should speed up to match the speed of the vehicles in the lane you are joining. So if you're doing 60 and come up to a truck going at 50, and traffic in the middle lane is going at 70, you should overtake at 70.
BUT the limit to which it is reasonable to expect people to increase their speed is the speed limit.
My comment was in response to those saying that outside lane-hoggers doing 70mph were correct in doing so as there should be no-one doing more than that to need to overtake them.
It is not the job of these people to do manouvres intended to 'prevent' someone breaking a traffic law.
It is dangerous and is the same mentality as those drivers in queues who swerve to block filtering motorcyclists, as they believe that they shouldn't do this. :mad:0 -
I felt the need to revisit this thread, as I was recently 'flashed' and still feel aggrieved about it!
I was driving South through the Blackwall Tunnel, London, where I believe it is clearly signposted 30 at the entrance. In any case, the overheard LEDs were clearly showing 30. I was in the left hand lane, at the front of a queue of traffic and doing 30; the right hand lane was shooting along at around 40mph.
Audi-driving dipsh!t behind me took it upon himself to flare his lights at me, taking me by surprise and dazzling me for a moment - yes, there was plenty of room ahead of me, but I was doing the limit. Needless to say, he got a long blast on the horn in return, and no increase in speed for his troubles.
If you want to break the speed limit, do it on your own account but don't try to bully others in to doing so. Next f3ck3r who tries it will see me slow to 10mph!0
