No it's not, it's to make them aware of your presence. It says so in the Highway Code ;)

The Highway Code is a guide, the law is the law. Big diff.

Constant flashing of lights on a motorway to other users can result in getting booked for careless or even dangerous driving if deemed aggressive enough.

You need to take your test again.

I think you'll find much of the Highway Code is the law :)

Or didn't you know that? Perhaps you need to take your test again?

Time for a reminder of the relevant section of the highway code:
    110

Flashing headlights. Only flash your headlights to let other road users know that you are there. Do not flash your headlights to convey any other message or intimidate other road users.

Don't twist this, this is in relation to flashing headlights, which is not preceeded by MUST/MUST NOT, which does not make it a legal requirement.

    However, rule 110 states-

The current Highway Code is clear and unambiguous about the use of flashing headlights; Rule 110 states:
'Flashing headlights. Only flash your headlights to let other road users know that you are there. Do not flash your headlights to convey any other message or intimidate other road users.'

This is where the police can book you for careless/dangerous driving for aggressive/intimidating behaviour.

Or even for warning of speed traps ahead? :rotfl:

Who's to say what the 'flasher' means? Maybe simply "I'm here - hadn't you noticed?"

Corrected that for you as there are drivers who dont follow the H/way code and make up they're own highway code.

They can't warn you of traps ahead if they are behind you.

For what its worth I think that people's driving habits mirror the sort of person they are when they are out of their cars. Some people have good manners and are polite and courteous and others are rude, impatient hotheads. You can tell a lot about someone by the way he drives and the way he treats his mother. ;)

I'm not so sure about that. There has been much said about people changing personality when they get behind a wheel.

I'd love a shotgun for middle lane hoggers. In fact, forget middle lane hoggers, anyone that drives a Prius should be boiled alive, either that or forced to have the exhaust of my supercharged 4.2 V8 inserted into their rectum whilst I rev a load of 95RON out.
