Jeferey how do you find First Direct as a bank thinking off moving our current account for a better deal with Halifax atm been with them since day ....... but saw in Martins weekly email a good deal with First Direct and £125 cashback waiting for this remortgage thing to complete in case it gets complicated but then looking to move.
Go for it - absolutely brilliant - the move was dead easy and (don't want to offend anyone but, ahem - the customer services people were great and all spoke English ;))
If at first you don't succeed, try, try, try - oh bu99er that just cheat :D

ooh don't leave this thread! you can get money off codes for online shopping, ie £10 off £50 shop, T used to take coupons for online shop, not sure if they are now.. a few people have said they have been rejected, you used to be able to give them to the delivery driver and the money was credited back to your account.

and a while ago nice glitch, we got £26 off shop :j

FD is online bank only hence the "cheapness" of their accounts.

Current a/c - The 'catch is you have to pay £1500 a month in (to get it free) and transfer some DD's, etc. I wanted to totally escape from Santander (never touch 'em again with very long bargepole :rotfl:) so no problem for me to switch!

Although online, you can go to any branch of HSBC and pay cheques in over counter, etc. - done it a few times - no problem - the paying in slips even have both names at top and you just cross out appropriate one - simples!:D

edit: and you get a chequebook too!

I have also sorted out my missing mug from personalised football offer that didn't turn up as didn't have time earlier

I like First Direct. When you ring up you get to speak to a real, knowledgeable person with no phone menus to wade through. Need an HSBC to make deposits though.
Not sure if it applies to everyone but they give me £250 overdraft with no fees or interest.
Also, if you have your current account with them you can open a regular saver account from £25 per month for a year at 8% interest.
I've used them for several years as a secondary account but have been so impressed that I'm making them my main account now. HTH

ps Agree about Santander Jeferey - absolutely rubbish!
