Sometimes junk mail can be good! Had to renew my home insurance today. Tried several comparison sites and cashback options then found a leaflet from NatWest that I had stuffed in a drawer saying they would beat my renewal quote by £25. Rang them, Their quote was nearly double my renewal  but they took £25 off my renewal amount AND let me pay in interest free monthly instalments. Worked out just £5 more than the best cashback option but with no huge payment now and no wondering/waiting months for the cashback. Very chuffed :j:j
Details here:

Still talking about money saving, another thing we did 3 years ago was get a water meter installed. There's 5 of us in a 4 bed house and people said it wasn't worth it. Got one anyway as you can change back in first 12 months - saves us over £100 a year.If at first you don't succeed, try, try, try - oh bu99er that just cheat0

Adore Holidays - Re First Direct.
I've been with them for best part of twenty years and have found them excellent to deal with, I'd very much recommend moving to them if you can.0 -

oh yes, hate santander, wouldn't touch them with a barge pole, especially when a colleague I work with....
went into her local branch for something, the young man said shall we have a chat? Ok, he without her knowledge and without explaining anything to her  got her signed up for a credit card, an overdraft and something else! he just told her to sign this paper.
She first found out about the credit card when she got a statement through her door! She immediately went back in the branch and said what is going on? And when asked who signed her up, she pointed out the young man who denied all knowledge of it! :mad:0 -
Shocking Aesop but not surprising!

The 'Feed your family for a fiver' at Sainbury's campaign led by Jamie Oliver is, I understand, being bettered by the "Feed your family for nowt at Tesco" campaign led by Worrall Thompson.

Question:
Why did the chicken cross the road?
Answer:
'cos Antony Worrall Thompson had it up his jumper as he left Tesco.SIMPLES!0
