the only thing I can find on line is to use a can opener. Place it on the edge, underneath the metal rim and try to open like that. Maybe you should email them as looking online most people have great difficulty getting the tins open. They may send you some vouchers for your bother ;)

I use a can opener(not the electric one we had but used to be manual)
Which way are you trying to open it though is it one that takes the entire lid off (the safty type ones)or one that cuts inside the rim(if you get what i mean).I dont think it works with the take the lid off type

The one that takes the entire lid off and leaves the rim. But I don't buy them, I just googled it to see if anyone had the perfect answer.

Why don't you call customer service and ask them? You may get something for your troubles ;)

fab kerri, well done on shop.

Our local sainsburys has 6 vultures who hover when it is reduction time. I wouldn't mind, but they take everything! AND they go and get stuff off the shelves that is expiring today, arm loads and take it to the SA to reduce for them! Can tell you the staff don't like them, and the other day the SA said you can't have both! I am taking one of the pies! And I thought good for you!

Thanks Aesop - I know what you mean about vultures. I usually end up shopping on a Sun before closing and they reduce a lot of sandwiches (could still make them cheaper myself) One week they had a trolly at the front and there were mobs of people (all very similar in appearance) all pushing and shovving and literally grabbing whatever the SA doing the reductions was (literally) cucking into the trolly from a couple of metres away. Store Mgr was there and i just turned to him saying 'I don't want anything that badly' and walked out. Week before last another of the families (mother and daughter this time) took at least 20 - 30 packs of sandwich chicken just reduced to 25p.

Today was nice though, although it was quite busy people were generally polite (I prob peed them off as I was rooting around on my honkers on the bottom shelf dithering about which mince i wanted:o) Got chatting to one lovely lady who helped me find some nice fillet steak (lots there) and we got chatting - apparently she has an OH who is mortified at her always checking out the reductions, so I told her mine refuses to shop with me if I'm using coupons :rotfl:

We both got a resaonable haul between us but plenty left for others (me chuffed with my free range chicken breasts for £1.75 as they don't come up that often and I will admit I do choose to eat free range if I'm cooking from scratch so it's usually a treat at full price these days)
