Making the future happen - museumworker's MFW diary Pt 2

Thanks newgirly - although if I had twins I don't think I'd even last a month :rotfl:! It will become a bit harder in the poorer weather, but hopefully by now I have enough nappies to let the other dry s-l-o-w-l-y!
I saw that programme too Peonie - unfortunately AFTER we had already sanded and varnished the floor :rotfl:! But hopefully it will be a useful tip for any readers who are considering how to sort out those pesky gaps. The cost of hiring a sander/ mess makes it impractical now, especially as the floors don't need resanding.
This article on the guardian site might be of interest: http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/blog/2011/dec/16/1
Discussed the cheap option with OH - papier mache and bon gap master, but he pointed out the mess and time it would need make it impractical. So we are looking at either gap master or (our preference at the moment) Draughtex.
DD won her year school diary competition :j! She has got a book and a music voucher as a prize, am so proud.

Clever old dd!Paid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D0 -
Thanks SSS, it is something we will keep forever as it has been such a fantastic summer and really documents what fun we have as a family.
£26.10 OP made today from Ama$on sales - can tell the students are going back to uni as my more academic type/high value books are finally shifting!
Had my first time away from DS yesterday, with first aid class. Learnt the recovery position and looked at first aid kits - will order one tomorrow when paid! DS took the bottle no problem, we are using the medela calma teat which is not cheap at £12 , but seems to be making the switching between bf and bottle seamless. We only have one as will be doing infrequent feeds.
Have chased Mr S, emailed builders and made 35p on onepoll. DS asleep on his playmat, so going to take advantage and print some vouchers and photocopy stuff for nappy grant.
Today am going to try a new baby group, meeting friend there and another mum I met on a history walk last week. I think it is £1.50, and will pick up some cheap fruit from the market on my way there too.Mortgage [STRIKE]16/03/2011: £190K 01/01/2017: £107,729.65 [/STRIKE] 01/07/2017: £95,979.89

.
Realised probably had a load expire over the years, ho hum, can't miss what you haven't got! But we're now fully on board with using them, none due to expire until April next year. Off to diarise checking them.Mortgage [STRIKE]16/03/2011: £190K 01/01/2017: £107,729.65 [/STRIKE] 01/07/2017: £95,979.89

Arrgh! Just checked the banking and had a £55 annual membership fee for my welsh classes come out. I can't attend at all this year ! Have cancelled the DD for next year and going to ask them to refund it. Fingers crossed!
Also - signed up for new broadband from BT - and found out could have had £50 MrS voucher and £20 from tcb. About to call them to cancel...Mortgage [STRIKE]16/03/2011: £190K 01/01/2017: £107,729.65 [/STRIKE] 01/07/2017: £95,979.89

Broadband order cancelled (they did offer free set up fee, saving £25 but thought would hold out for the online offers), and £55 refund for welsh membership on its way. Gosh there's a lot to think about as a MFW!
Having a duvet morning today, much needed after a busy week and DS wanting to get up at 4am this morning!
Have done what I said I wouldn't and done a little calculation on monies after returning to work. £260 after all deductions/childcare/transport pm if get local nursery , or a more respectable £660 if can use workplace nursery; that is before childcare vouchers. Think that makes my mind up that I will go back, if I can convince my boss to make me office based (usually out and about all over the place, so workplace nursery wouldn't be suitable). That is full time, haven't worked out PT options yet.
ETA: If we both use childcare vouchers, we'll save £146pm.Mortgage [STRIKE]16/03/2011: £190K 01/01/2017: £107,729.65 [/STRIKE] 01/07/2017: £95,979.89

Made it to book group. Felt quite out of my depth, although that might be baby brain! They were all very friendly. Am going to try another one too, probably in November.
OP of £900.05 made, from salary leftovers and small ama$on sale :j!

Hi MW, that's great news on the child care vouchers, it will be a big help
I love the way you describe close to a £1k OP :j as 'salary leftovers and small amaz@n sale'.
