My lo is not herself either and DH has been working 14 hour days and been away to a big meeting in Manchester
Gosh writing this down makes me feel rather pathetic . . . . time to go and get on with things!!!
Hope you have a lovely birthday weekend

Thanks for the good wishes MRN and icklehelen - I hope it does turn out to just be a cold. It all comes at once doesn't it, which makes it harder to cope with.
Have done everything on the list except sort the hallway out properly. Today I tried out a new group which I really like, and will definitely be going there regularly. It had a really nice vibe, nice mums, and some sort of structure. And it was only £1
. Back home and time for lunch. I went via MrA on way back from first aid last night, and managed to get lots of whoopsied bread products for 10p each. About to have cheese and ham grilled on English muffins. DD and I had pan au chocolates for breakfast which she loved. I also picked up some English pears and apples from the market on the way home today too, and my free books from the Surestart scheme.

Morning all. I had a fantastic tea party yesterday afternoon, with many of my dearest friends. Some friends really helped out, and OH was a star, so had lots of lovely cakes, fresh HM scones and sandwiches. As well as tea we had mango and mint bellinis and some absolutely delicious pink ginger cordial which I made after seeing the recipe on Fortune Smiles diary. I batch made it, so we still have a sealed bottle left, and half a bottle open. A very special afternoon for me
.
We also have a fridge full of cake and sandwiches to get through :rotfl:!
DD had a friend's party (she was meant to be at her dad's this weekend), but came home quite upset as she wasn't part of the sleepover. This morning at about 4am she came into my room and started being sick; she has been sick a few more times since. Currently she is sleeping on the sofa, having watched some early morning DVDs with me. I hope it is just something she ate at the party or the upset rather than a bug or anything from home. OH and I both feel ok. We've had to cancel a planned trip to see family, but are going to use the day to get quotes on our insurance !

Thanks FS, she is awake and watching lots of Arthurs recorded on our freeview+ box - so think there is some recovery there! Thanks also for the pink ginger cordial recipe, it really was delicious. Still have about 300g of ginger left - any tips about what to do with that?
I have sorted out home insurance and saved £210 :j! The cover is better than what we had in a number of areas - includes accidental damage to buildings, and pest infestations. Need to double check what the position is with bicycles though as very confused! No cashback, but I will get a free meerkat.
OH took DS for a walk in the sling, and has come home with some free lettuces from the allotment. Apparently it has been a very bad year there, what with the washout weather and thefts .

Evening all. Have had a walk with DS in the sling which was lovely. DD seems brighter so planning to take her to school tomorrow. A day on the couch watching telly and reading her kindle has done her the world of good.
OH made her a kindle cover from a felted scarf I'd picked up for 50p from a charity shop. It was a lovely multicoloured stripey Duffer scarf, and she is delighted with the case. I just need to get some orange elastic to help keep the flap down.
Am so glad the birthday season was successful, and is now finished. I get really anxious and stressed at this time of year, so feeling very relieved it is now behind me. Having sorted out the insurance is another weight off my mind.
Have totted up how much our dashes to the supermarkets have cost in the last week, and have spent £100 ! I have used £13 in vouchers on top of that too. Entertaining has bumped the cost up, and OH got something 'easy' on Friday whilst we were baking with a friend, as well as some beers as a treat. We do however have a fridge full of food, and lots of reduced fish in the freezer, so I think we can keep going til the weekend which will help offset the expense a bit. We also have three bottles of cava left, which I can keep for Xmas.
Am hoping for a few quieter days at the beginning of the week, as it will be busier near the end. I have a wake to go to on Thursday, and am planning to take DD. Can anyone give any advice or point to a website which gives guidance on how to talk about bereavements with children?Mortgage [STRIKE]16/03/2011: £190K 01/01/2017: £107,729.65 [/STRIKE] 01/07/2017: £95,979.89

I'm sorry to jump in museumworker (especially without even introducing myself, although I do lurk on your diary and think it's FAB).
Perhaps this link may help? http://www.crusebereavementcare.org.uk/Children.html
Without going into too much detail, my children lost their father and it was (still is) a horrendous time for them. I don't know if this will link will help, but my thoughts are with you XFebruary13 - £74990 (or thereabouts)
MND - Let's go for 2020 'cos it's got a nice ring to it:D
C'mon nattypants:cool:0 -
Thanks so much nattypants for posting - please all lurkers do jump right in! So sorry to hear your children have had to deal with such a loss. Thank you for posting the link - it is perfect. It will definitely help me, and hopefully other readers here too. xMortgage [STRIKE]16/03/2011: £190K 01/01/2017: £107,729.65 [/STRIKE] 01/07/2017: £95,979.89

£9.08 OP to report from Ama$on sales, and £100 cheque received from supermarket for faulty blanket :j! That will be cashed on Monday.
We took DD to the wake - it was a really hard day for us all, but glad we went to show our support for some extremely dear friends.
Have had a lovely day with OH - did an NCT sale in the morning, and stocked up on clothes for DS in the next size. £26 spent, included nappy bin for downstairs, a grobag, a fair amount of decent trousers and a few dungaree outfits. Came home and relaxed, we all had an afternoon nap. Then had kids party, and dropped in on friends 30th. Been all over North London today, but feel like have had the right attitude and not got too stressed about getting things done. I have come to realise that our lives will always be busy, but I can control how stressed I feel about it, if that makes sense.
Have also done a few lines on friend's baby blanket today, her baby has now come and I hope to see her in 10 days, so bit of a deadline to work to! Restarted my AMA as well, have four weeks to get paperwork up to date and do a work related activity, so expect to see some to dos on here related to that next week!
Tomorrow seeing friends for a tea party at theirs, should be lovely.Mortgage [STRIKE]16/03/2011: £190K 01/01/2017: £107,729.65 [/STRIKE] 01/07/2017: £95,979.89
