Making the future happen - museumworker's MFW diary Pt 2

£54 spent on moth killing stuff. Hoping it will save our wool carpets from total destruction
.
Also finally got round to ordering new broadband. BT infinity, £16pm, first 3 months free, £50 Mr S voucher, and £10 cashback. Plus inspired by Tilly's diary paid for my line rental a year in advance, which will save £46pa :T.
DD is sick again, this time I suspect it is tonsilitus. Need to get ready to take her to Drs for emergency surgery. Does mean the planned lunch with some mum friends will be skipped, which was looking forward to. Hope everyone else having a good, healthy day.

Hope your DD is better soon, it's an awful time of year for bugs. Re: your new broadband, is the line rental extra? We're currently paying £17.75 for both and are out of contract now but i'm struggling to find a deal to beat it.June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Hi CathT, good to see you here. DD definitely has tonsilitus, has some gross tasting antibiotics to treat it (cue me shouting 'don't you dare spit it out' after her first mouthful
).
Sadly line rental is extra, but we were looking for the best compromise between speed and price. We paid line rental for the year to save some cash, but for the £9/18 pm we will get an estimated 40mb download speed. Bear in mind we get an estimated 18mbs, which is actually more like 8, even if we get 20 it will be at least twice as fast! There is a download limit, but hopefully we won't surpass it.
Making a carrot and lentil soup for DD, made an extra big batch so can feed the freezer. Using up carrots from fridge, all rest from storecupboard. We have managed to get through this week with only a small top up shop or two. Only 8 days til OH goes away for a week !Mortgage [STRIKE]16/03/2011: £190K 01/01/2017: £107,729.65 [/STRIKE] 01/07/2017: £95,979.89

Have spent a bit of time reading diaries on here, as DS fell asleep on me this afternoon and was NOT going to let me move! Really enjoyed mortgagefreebeforefifty's diary(I think that's the right user name), and coupled with some general thinking now have some new things I want to look at:
* make reusable baby wipes (any tips?) = £50 saving pa
* Mr T credit card (for points) = not sure
* Halifax reward accounts x 2 (or 3 if we can get it) = £120 pa
* invite OH and friends to join tcb (any takers let me know!) = £15+
* return reuseable nappy grant form = £54
Some other ideas, but saved them on OH's computer so will have to update this list later!Mortgage [STRIKE]16/03/2011: £190K 01/01/2017: £107,729.65 [/STRIKE] 01/07/2017: £95,979.89

Hi MW
Just been reading some of the other diaries I am subscribed too and noticed on MFB50's that your ds is now 5 months old - where has the time gone?!
Really thinking about Project 333 but will have to wait as I haven't even got time to do my weekly shop this weekend and then we're into Christmas Fairs and Markets - I may resurface around 10th December and have a go then!!
Your list looks fab - please feel free to skip my ramblings below
*I have a mixture of wipes some homemade and some bought - the ones from thenappylady are my favourites tho
*I have used my Tesco CC with 0% to stooze over the last few months and got a decent amount of extra points too!
*Setting up the individual Halifax Rewards is easy as you can do it over the web but the joint is a trip into Halifax where they try to sell you more!! I told them I only wanted it for the free fiver
*already on tcb - sorry!
*£54! Get it sent in - we don't have a scheme here - only live 4 miles from qualifying area tho

Thanks all! That one was a bit of a surprise, not quite sure how it was that much - hoping we haven't miscalculated somewhere!
Have been carrying on with the decluttering, and much much better with charity shops this week. The two go hand in hand I think - once you see things you've had to give away, it makes you a lot less likely to pick things up. Spent £2.99 on perfect skinny jeans for me (high rise), £1 on herbal medicine book and £4.00 on clothes for DS. Today I had some time to kill and rather than go to a charity shop I went to a local arts centre, donated 50p for a tea and crocheted and chatted to people. It was really nice and shows how my time can be used when I get my charity shopping under control!
With my payday too have topped up accounts and making some payments. Have ordered Xmas cards - a photo of the kids, moo.com through TCB. £44 inc delivery for 50, should be with us in a week. Hoping for £5 cashback from that, and eventually £15 for signing OH up to tcb.
Have also booked a holiday for us for Feb half term. OH has leave he needs to use up, and having not really gone away the last year (apart from staying with family) he really is in need of a break. It is a small barn conversion, with games room next door, on a working farm, with playground and fishing lake in West Wales. So there should be plenty to do whatever the weather! Had 5% discount code, got the week for £256. We're all quite excited as it is a real treat for us. We need to make sure we're still enjoying life during this MF journey after all!Mortgage [STRIKE]16/03/2011: £190K 01/01/2017: £107,729.65 [/STRIKE] 01/07/2017: £95,979.89
