Hello everyone. Welcome to the Weekly Spend Challenge. This challenge is open to anybody, no matter what financial place they are in.
On this thread please post an amount of money you wish to stay below within the week (Sunday to end of working day on Friday). This can be pennies or thousands it depends on the individual. Then next Saturday report back and pledge for the following week. The challenge runs from Sunday to Friday so we don't include Saturdays but feel free to change the rules to suit you and include Saturdays or start on a different day.
Feel free to update this thread with daily spends if that keeps you on track. We colour code the results as below:
Green - within budget
Red - overbudget
Purple - zero spend
Orange - made money over the week
This is a little bit of fun but for many it highlights the fact that maybe that magazine/chocolate bar isn't needed. Hopefully your spending habits can be changed forever.

Also, in case you haven't seen my sig, I'm now officially debt free! Confirmed with all my creditors on Thursday, so it's a really lovely way to start the new year
Not much planned for the week - am working overtime every day 8am-8pm, so no time for spends really! :T

Put me down for £50 again for the next week will you? If I don't manage it once I'm back at work then I need to start leaving my purse in the house whenever I go out!
Happy New Year!:D:D:D:D

Thanks for the new thread LC:beer: It must be so good to start 2012 debt free.
We are staying in tonight as we are still in the sticks, going back to the big smoke on Monday afternoon. Spent nothing this week so I am declaring purple for last week (think that is my first and last of 2011:rotfl:)
I am going to aim for £30 this week as need to make a good start to 2012 and try to stay on budget, January always seems like such a long month.
Enjoy the last day of 2011 and have a good new year everyoneWeekly Spend Challenge: £0/£30

I'm in. I REALLY need to keep on top of this as I was made redundant yesterday.
So I'd like to try for €30 this week please. Still too high but I don't want to try for €5 and fail.0 -

Good Morning and Happy New Year.
Hope everyone isn't suffering this morning. I did my usual 2 bottles of beer and then fell asleep.I'm such a lightweight
, but in my defence they were those big, pint bottles
I will pledge £12 again this week. I'm hoping for another frugal week but as we all start to get back to normal who knows what life will chuck in my way

Good morning all and Happy New year
The aim is to be debt free by the end of 2012:D
Please put me down for £40 this week as I might be going out for dinner today but not sure and Thursday it's back to swimming with N&Ns.
Thanks for running this thread0 -
I reckon I'm in...
My bills for the month are paid so my only expenditure is travel (not a lot) and food for work (i work shifts so some weeks will be lunch and snacks, others will be evening meal - this week is earlies so lunch).
Put me down for £25 - spent £5.72 on the way to work this morning but walked and saved £1.60 bus fare

Hi all :hello:
Happy New Year! _party_
Hope you all had a great night, whatever you did! I don't have a hangover, so am in a GREAT mood!!!
First post updated.
Well done pp for £0 spend, I don't think I'll ever be that disciplined!!! :rotfl:
freebyfifty as long as you enjoyed yourself then what does it matter what you drank or when you fell asleep
Hello to all the new pledgers, good luck with your pledges!
I'm going to go to the mall later, need to get birthday presents, toiletries and clothes!!! None of it from this budget though! There is one thing I'm planning from here, and that is a griddle pan I've seen for £5 in M&S - I've wanted one for ages and this one is nice and cheap and it's the perfect size for just me!
Have a great day all
