Yesterday I spent money on fuel for the car & the art workshop I went to, these were already budgeted.

4 NSDs so far an I have no plans to leave the house today so I'm anticipating another today. Have a good day everyone.

Well I'm doing pretty rubbish so far! Thought £25 for the week would be more than enough but it's really highlighted just how much I actually spend. Which is a real wake-up call but a much needed one! So far I've had two NSDs (one on the 1st and one yesterday) but have spent money on things I really shouldn't have :( I've redownloaded iXpensit on my phone, bought it about a year ago but then deleted it as I didn't use it, perhaps why I'm in a bit of a financial pickle! So my expenditures have been:

Mon 2nd: £4.99 (cold meds at Tesco) and £20.42 (bits for lunches)
Tuesday 3rd: £2 on parking and £5 at Costa, which I normally wouldn't do but I'd just come out of court and needed it!

Hoping for some more NSDs this week and will have to reassess my figure for next week :o

    Hey guys

How do you live on so little.

I have worked out our weekly spending allowance as £120.

    That's -

£70 to spend in the supermarket on food, baby formula, nappies, pet food, toiletries etc. ) any spare will be put in a jar and cashed every month or so and paid to a debt
£30 to fill the car in petrol which is essential for work
£10 OH gives his lift for work every week
£10 budgeted for "entertainment" which includes taking toddler to swimming/soft play/toddler group once/twice a week and the change will be saved so we can go to the cinema or get a takeaway once a month

Our budget seems huge compared to you lot :-O

That's because if you read the notes for the challenge it says:

The challenge is about incidental spending and not for stuff that should be budgeted elsewhere such as bills, groceries, debt repayment etc but you decide what to include at the end

  • Thank goodness a NSD........Hurrah!
  • mmummy21 most of us don't count spends that are budgeted elsewhere. I don't count anything I don't have choice in how much I spend such as bus pass etc.

My only spend today was £3 on my card at work which got spent on breakfast, coffee and chocolate.

    Total so far £7 / £30
    Weekly Spend Challenge: £0/£30

  • Pleased to report that since I went back to work I haven't spent anything more this week - haven't had time. Just petrol, which is already budgeted elsewhere.
So no change in my weekly spend. :D

Most of the things you have mentioned above come out of different budgets for me. I have a grocery budget and a diesel budget.
This challenge (for me anyway) is for the stuff that isn't budgeted for and, as I do nearly everything via virtual banking, use my debit card, online transfers etc, it's about the little bit of cash in my purse and how I use it.
    Hope that helps you :)
