Hi there hopeful
OK, just got the bottle from upstairs! It is Aveeno Bath Oil, we have found it amazing. Our doctor prescribed it straight away but I know other people whose doctors have given them a series of cheaper and frankly useless products (like aqueous cream which we found not v good at all). Good luck, sure you will put up a good fight with them. My friend had to argue, but they had tried several things, eczema was no better and so doc said ok. My doc just wrote it out straight away and it really stopped the spread of it in it's tracks.

Thank you for that. It always depends on the doctor I have to see. I've been known to be a little 'insistent' with some in the past who behave as if they are paying for prescriptions out of their own salary! The last doctor I saw couldn't have been anymore generous if he tried, as he even prescribed a tube version of one cream so I could keep it in my handbag!

Oh Hopeful! Just don't want to bore everyone with my boring domestic trials!
I am officially a bad mother. DD1 has just PUKED everywhereBetter go and tend to her x

I know, I find it very odd if they start doing that, it is very annoying and you will just end up coming back and costing them more cash in the long run.
Anyway, back to money saving! Well, we have been money saving in a way:D

Yes, SJ1 I think we can justify the cause under the MSE bannerOne step at a time0 -
Hope DD1 is ok today - I hate it when they are REALLY ill, it can be so hard to tell when its real or just a bit of a moan!
Please don't keep the diary *just* to money stuff, it is often the little asides which I find the most informative. I now consider myself well educated about eczema cream, who'd have thought :rotfl:?
'Popping' to the shops is just dangerous, they are too good at selling things. Although sounds like the creams and bath stuff are more of an essential at the minute.

Hi MW, no grief from home, but it does get mentioned at work. I think I was just feeling extra sensitive last Friday, so my apologies
I am going to hang on to my Fridays, as it's the day I sort out the house and the only day the kids are not at breakfast and after school club. Their day is longer than mine, so I have to fight to keep this day for them.
DD is off school today. She got up and dressed and I hung around for a while to make sure she was ok, but just as I was flouncing out the door, she started to cryShe's normally quite tough, so I knew she wasn't well. So I am at home, there are things I can do for work, but I put in so many extra hours during the last quarter, that I'm ahead, so it's no great loss (not that my boss sounded too pleased...)
OK, so 1st of the Month, time to remind myself of this month's goals:- Declutter the Cellar/s - we have quite a lot of space which is getting steadily full of junk. I've already made a start, but aim to do at least 15-30 mins decluttering every day - Flylady style until I've created some order
- A Space of My Own - This is in the attic bedroom and will have to wait until we have had the work done on the roof. But I can start the delicate job of convincing DH that the relics posing as Antiques of the future (in his mind) are just useless old computers and need skipping. This may take some time negotiating....The idea is to make a creative space where I can work, so the 2 drawer filing cabinet will also go in there, thus encouraging an ordered and money minded space also.
- Filing - Urgghhh, my pet hate. But linked in with the other 2 missions. I am determined to develop this habit to create and retain order and in turn stress relief - isn't that the Holy Grail of the Working Mother?!
- Counting My Blessings - I am very much goal driven and in the past year have suffered frustrations at work - being promised things which didn't materialise. Sometimes I push too hard, so have decided to count my blessings and be thankful for what I DO have. This month, I'm going with the flow!
Got the quote for the roof works - £700  - but better than I thought. The house is listed, so it is a "stitch-in-time" sort of job in my mind. We'll hopefully get that done Pre-Easter.
Hope all's well for those reading0 -
Glad the building work quote isn't too shocking, there's always something isn't there. Hope your DD is ok, quite often these bugs leave as quickly as they appear.June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0

For your info, the Aveeno brand is owned by Johnson & Johnson.. If normal stock is not sold, they are purchased by Poundland and other pound shop.. Keep your eye out for those bargains..
If your GP is not prescribing you that Aveeno product, let me know, and I will see if I can track down a few bottles of that Aveeno oil at cost price for you.. I still have good contacts at that company..
Cheers

DD is fine thanks Cath - right as rain! Think it was me force-feeding her juiced avocado, cue, spinach etc before her chilli and rice
Thanks FroggyThat is very kind of you. Our GP is very good, so I'm sure that won't be a problem. If only I'd known it was on prescription before I bought in bulk....

Hmmm, we have our BTL mortgage with Birmingham Midshires. Just been on their site and they no longer deal direct with customers looking for a new deal. We arranged it through an IFA, but was hoping to save the fee and do it ourselves this year. Will have to shop around...0
