Good evening
A good Money Saving day today:- Searched for a new broadband deal at lunchtime. Found one matching our current usage for £27.98 per month. Far cheaper than the £53.27 that BT are charging us this month. So I rang BT for our MAC code and lo and behold - they have matched it! :j
- Then called Orange, as I'm out of contract now and this month's bill was £32.27. After a chat about better deals "or I'm leaving" I got a better package than my last one for £14 a month :money:
- And brought lunch to work, which I have done every day without fail this month, so feeling very proud of myself :A
So that's £40+ per month saved :T
I've stuck to my meal plan so an NSD there, the only money spent was 70p on my brekkie break at work.
I've cancelled the ironing lady too this week and am doing it myself, so £'s saved there (but I've that mountain yet to climb). but I'm feeling very positive today and am back on track. Payday in 2 days and counting.
Hope all's well with everyone0 -
Wel done macgirl...that is some savings you have made.:j It really peeves me off that a company only plays ball when you say you are leaving..they are all the same.Credit card £4461.15Home mortgage £137117Buy to let mortgage £83,0000

Hi MacG, I need some tips from you. I rang Orange today and ended up asking them for my MAC code - certainly weren't interested in helping me stay - I may try again tomorrow.
That's marvellous news on your monthly saving and payday soon as well.
On the ironing front, I can't recall if you ever work from home, but I can highly recommend concalls and ironing - so many people clear mails when on calls, and then don't concentrate on the call itself, whereas ironing can be done without your brain engaged, thus leaving you time to focus on the call - marvellous :T. Otherwise send it over to me and I will do it :rotfl:

Tilly, I had a knock back too when i tried the "i'm leaving" card with Sky. The world and it's mother had had success with that one, but not me! Oh no :rotfl:
As for ironing - does that offer apply to anyone???One step at a time0 -
I can see me offering an ironing service with payment via services rendered - ie MacG has to organise the phone contracts, someone else handles Sky, I am sure between us all we could save ourselves money
Sorry for hijacking your diary MG

Just finished all the uniforms and I officially HATE ironing. Give me 100 toilets to clean before ironing, any day....I am watching old series of SATC to take the sting out though - but no more tonight, I'll finish tomorrow.
I rang Bt for the MAC code Tilly, not Orange. With O I was out of contract and told them I wanted a cheap deal as I have a work's iphone. I said I didn't want a Nokia touch screen (as I'd tried it before but didn't like it), just a basic and the guy was soooo patronising! He said that the only others available were Blackberry types and they were for "business people or young people into BB messaging" :rotfl: How rude! He doesn't know the first thing about me!
I do think companies are getting wise to the whole "give me a better deal or I'm leaving" but if you have done your research and can find a better deal and tell them....well, they want to retain business so it often works. It's tough out there, they need to work harder.
Anyway, my work does not involve concalls and I never work from home, so I leave at 7am and get in at 6 to breakfast dishes. That's how I justify my ironing lady0 -
Goodness MacG, that's a long day for you. Don't ditch the ironing lady - sounds like you need her.
Thanks for setting me straight on BT. I will try orange again tomorrow but not at all impressed.

Orange were kind of "take it or leave it" and to be honest, I've always been with them and my DH and many of my friends are, so I know I won't switch....
BT on the other hand were falling over themselves to make me stay, but my tac was different. I just asked for the MAC code and they were all panicky "Why are you leaving???" Game on! :rotfl:
Good luck with them - hope you can save some money
EDIT: Yes my days are long - an hour commute each way - but I only do 4 days, so am considered part time (we won't talk about the extra unpaid hours I do at home )0 -

Pah, that's not a long day! 6.30 to 6.30 for me, 90 mins plus drive each way. Now THAT'S a long day :rotfl:. That's how I justify my ironing/cleaning lady too. And the holidays. And the alcohol:);).
I only do it 2 to 3 days though, work from home or out & about the other days.
Well done on BT deal :T, I was thinking of swapping to them as not happy with Sky - but currently on one year's free line rental so will stick with that for now.A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

Amazingly I had the complete opposite with BT having triggered their usage warning pre-Christmas with all kinds of updates. Even the most basic offering from O2 was way better and when I called to ask when I was out of contract and asked for the MAC code they asked why I was leaving ... Then gave me the code.
I was being fleeced 2-3 times the amount I will be paying O2 ... I don't think the BT have even sent me the letter verifying that I am leaving their phone service yet. And it changes over tomorrow!!!- Mortgage @ March 2008: £194,965 ; Lightbulb Moment: July 2011: £164,926; End Date: March 2033
