I'm just back from Vegas. Completed the 1/2 Marathon.

The weather was fine. I was very comfortable in a teeshirt and cardigan. The sky's were pretty dark, only one really sunny morning. Lots of wind and no rain. Locals were in winter coats.

I think the temperature is relevant to where you are coming from. It was -20C when I left home and going to 69F was wonderful. The weather was supposed to go down to the mid-50s (still balmy in my world).

Stayed at the Venetian in the Venezia tower. Room was fine, overlooked the volcano.

The resort is doing a "Winter in Venice" theme right now. Very pretty. Complete with teflon type ice rink over part of the outdoor canal where you can rent skates.

Will you be getting the Privilege package in that room rate. It's worth $100/night based on double occupancy. Include breakfast, afternoon tea, happy hour and peace and quiet on the 23rd floor.

I was reading about privellage what was the breakfast like

Don't know they !!!!!!ed up our move. I booked into the Venezia tower and Mr WC tried to arrange for us to upgrade into the Palazzo for the last two days as a treat for me finishing the marathon.

In what can best be described as a Fawlty Towers episode, they moved us back into our original suite and offered to move us at 2300 hrs post race. Not a happy pair of bunnies.

The leaflet desccribed it as in the European manner. So if it's like what Paris does in their concierge package it's a good one. Cold meats, cheeses, fresh fruit, warm fresh pastries, boiled eggs, cereals etc. Not a cooked US type breakfast. It kept Mr. WC happy and he's a man that likes his breakfast (think 6'5 rugby type)

They gave us a huge food/beverage credit to "make it up to us". The restaurant (Bouchon) in the Venezia Tower is nice. Denny's is out the front door and to the left just past Sephora's. The Grande Lux Cafe isn't bad according to a friend.

Can anybody help me out please and try getting a Virgin quote for flight only using miles plus money. Im trying to do it for 25th July-8th Aug 2013. Have been trying for a while but keep getting "sorry we are unable to process your request".

I booked last year this time using m+m and got bargain price of 493GBP. I know flight is available as I did call back but like to keep ckecking on random dates to see if any price change.

    Thank you.

I've been doing this for similar dates, and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't - not sure if it's linked to availability or just a problem with the system.

By the way, the price you got was amazing for school summer hols. I'm looking later in August and I was getting high 600 low 700 for M plus M.

£1486 for direct flights and 3 nights midweek in Salome suite Bellagio...good deal?? Need some reassurance before I book the surprise trip for me and hubby!

£1486 sounds not bad, depends on what time of year you are talking about?

Generally direct flights can be about £650-£800 so your price seems quite good.

We've stayed in the Salone Suite - we loved it - try and get one with a fountain view (though I think we had a partial view from the 'new' part of the Bellagio, facing fountains etc but also overlooking the pool)

with the current VA "lowest USA fares... book by 19th Dec" offer, do we anticipate the sales coming shortly after this, or is there usually a given time in January when the sales happen?
