The Flamingo pool is free to non-guests after 1pm unless that has changed very recently.

Well you are correct that the pool and maybe the hotel does not have the wow factor, but with a 1 an 3 year old I would want to be able to keep an eye on them. The main pool is about 10Mtrs x 25Mtrs, steps into a shallow end then goes to about 2.5 Mtrs deep. The indoor section, which you get to by swimming through the outdoor pool (or walking through the door) is smaller but only about chest high, and very warm. It is an intimate place, the pool is heated and open throughout the year, very child friendly, they even have a box by the pool with beach balls, etc. 7 minutes walk from room to front of Ballys, shorter than from the MGM by a long way. Area looks a bit rough along Flamingo with a few drunks sometimes but they are really friendly:). 1 minute walk from Ellis Island, 5 minutes to PF Changs and Bahama Breeze. The 2 bed corner suites are huge, and just over double the price of a Princess, so 2 families could stay in one, i think they sleep 6. The Solitaire/Princess suites have pull out settee beds so you and missus can be in the bedroom and kids in the lounge at nights. You get free WIFI, use of the gym, boarding pass print outs, and a full kitchen so you could control what the kids eat.
You can by admission to the Flamingo pool if you wanted, think its about $15 each. Cosmopolitan lets you use one of the pools for free Monday to Friday if you sign up for the players card.
PM me if you decide to go ahead and I will give you the contact email of the room manager, he will give you a really good deal.

That sounds really good! I always assumed it was pretty far off strip but looking on a map now it's not really that far at all. What sort of rates can you get there? If possible could you PM me the contact? :)

If off strip is viable then how about the Orleans ? Good pool, creche <!!> bowling, lots of eating choices and suites are reasonable in price.

yeah i thought of platinum myself as really like the idea of having the double bed suite
    my only conerns was
1 if the pool was child friendly enough ?it looks v small compared to mgm/mbay/flamingo
2 how far off strip is it? although ive been before loads this is the inlaws first time and so how hard is it going to be for them to get to and from the strip? is it safe to walk it?
3, has it got the wow factor? of other hotels?

The main pool at flamingo is adults only now, there is a very small family pool.

The main pool by all accounts is full of drunk 20 somethings these days

Orleans could be an option if you want a nice pool that doesnt get to busy but it doesnt have the wow factor and is off strip

Who is the wow factor for, the kids will be wowed whereever you take them

One thing to consider is whether or not you want to do some laundry when you are there. :rotfl:
