Yes, never seen rain like it here. It rained last year when we were at the Platinum but we never went out in it. We picked up our hire car today and there was a wee mishap after that. All ok now but has been a bit of a stressful day. :(

We drove down the strip after picking the car up and there were cars turning into the hotels and getting stuck in the water because as someone said it was shindeep. A few people were trying to walk in it but never seen the place so wet. Obviously not made to cope with rain. We had to keep in the left lane because the outside lanes were dangerously deep....and that's coming from someone from the west coast of Scotland and should be fully used to seeing those conditions.

It was quite scary and we were shortly aware that there were a lot of problems on the roads.

Now back at the hotel having my first drink of the day on the balcony, feel like I need it.

Man did it rain this afternoon!
we went on the Scoot City red rock trip this morning and saw the clouds coming in, we had a couple of spots on the windshield as we finished the trip, phew!

the trip itself was really great fun, believe the TA reports!

Oh, wouldn't have been very pleasant if you had been caught in it. We saw an open top bus with no-one in it and water was gushing out a drain halfway up it. Not sure I've seen rain like this before. Well maybe this. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-south-scotland-15922080 not sure if this link will work, second picture down is the main road through our town. Right outside my work - needless to say I couldn't get to work that day.

Have you tried putting your postcode in without a space? No idea if it will work.

I checked my profile on the .com site and it doesn't show my address so I can't check. Your address would need to be correct, ie not with a US postcode, as it has to be the same as the credit card you are using.

I've never had a problem with the .com site, but I have been a member for years and can't remember what details were required.

Like you I cant remember either but I didnt think I ever put my UK address with a UK postcode in on the US site. As they only email vouchers out.

Isnt it the same as Rest.com, I have never put a Uk address in on there that matches my credit card address

When we were there a couple of weeks ago a young lad got swept away to his death. The most rain in one day for over 50 years
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.
  • I have a couple of questions, I have loads really but always forget them when I go to write them here haha.

Do I need to hand over a credit card when I check in? I don't do credit cards, the temptation for me would be horrible, I booked with Virgin so holiday is all paid for, can I maybe give them my debit card? A friend offered to lend me hers but I assumed you couldn't use someone elses.

Are there ever any deals on the helicopter flights over The Grand Canyon that anyone knows of? I am only there 4 nights and wasn't going to bother as it's expensive but speaking to someone today they said they are sure they saw a bogof somewhere.

Should I take all cash or some cash and my debit card? I have only ever been Tenerife before and always used my card if I needed too.

I go in 3 weeks, cannot wait, I have the lion habitat tickets through the MyVegas game already and am still earning points, it's sooo exciting.

Unfortunately another man is now missing. He was a landscape worker. They are continuing to search for him :(

Wait to see what others say about room deposit. We are always asked for a credit card (I would think Tenerife is the same however maybe they accept debit card). Our sister in law with us one time with no c/card, but her mother was also there and let her use hers (she was also staying there and checked in etc).

Could you not get one and not use it and cut it up on the way home? I mean if you leave it in the room safe you can't really use it? Or give it to the other person you are travelling with and tell them it's only for the room?

You might be able to use a debit card but they will hold money on your account so there needs to be money in there if you see what I mean. . I'm sure you can also use cash, however I'm sure you don't want to be handing over dollars and getting them back when you go home.

We were in Caesars at the time and they had one big leak in the casino roof near the theatre entrance. We decided to run over to Serendipity for frozen hot chocolate, but the whole restaurant floor was covered in water! we then pegged it over to Bellagio, where I overheard one of the staff say had leaks in the art gallery. Eek!

but it's a beautiful start to the day today... Will keep an eye out for Obama in town today, though earlier news probably means he won't have a wander

Will the lion habitat be back open then? When we were there last week it was closed and there is a big display of the new revamped rooms instead.

ETA if thats where you mean, just dawned on me you might not!
