Hi all! I'm off to Vegas late September too, first time there :j

Just wanted to ask do I need to make reservations for restaurants before we go? Like Gordon Ramsey steak?

We're booking show tickets before we go and hoping to book the grand canyon helicopter tour when we're there.

Thanks for this thread btw, all the info is great :)

for somewhere like that, i would probably say yes... it's still relatively new and probably in-demand, so if it's somewhere you definitely want to go, then i would :)

otherwise you should be ok with more casual dining places. however the popular places like Cheesecake Factory at peak times, you can sometimes expect a wait. they're really good at turning tables round, but you may have to wait 30mins+. so if you're strolling by there earlier in the day, might be an idea to make a reservation.

but if you're not too fussed where you eat, then if somewhere's full, you won't have to go far to find somewhere else :)

I fancy going to Gordon Ramseys steakhouse while I'm in Vegas with my sister for our birthdays, am I leaving it to chance if I wait until I go there to book it? I go on a Sunday but fly home on the Thursday lunchtime so not there long at all. I don't fancy ringing the Vegas number to book.

i don't think there is online booking at the moment, so just give them a call to book. if you'd really like to go there for your meal, then you'll want to book... but if you're not too bothered, then just chance it :)

from reading reviews, 2+ days advance booking is needed for limited time slots, so you're probably looking at a week in advance if you want a specific time

For those of you who work full-time jobs...how many days holiday do you get per year (if you don't mind saying!)?

Ideally I'd love to get to Vegas twice a year, which I guess is doable on 23 days holiday if I use bank holidays to my advantage. I wish I had a job where I had like 40 days holiday or something...that would be amazing.

I just really wanna go back! (tantrum over)

Rory I get 20 days plus 10 stats throughout the year. they run from Jan to Dec, and we aren't allowed to carry over any unused days

Yeah that seems pretty reasonable. When I first thought about 23 days plus bank holidays, it seemed like a lot. But I use quite a few days going to football and on other little short breaks, so I think for now one trip a year is gonna have to be enough for me.

I just hope one of my friends gets married soon so I can arrange a stag do there.

Using the international callchecker (sticky at the top of forum) it will only cost maybe 1p per minute http://callchecker.moneysavingexpert.com/intcallchecker/

They had a DJ on in the top pool and the music drowned out everything, and that was a Tuesday.

Yeah, I feel for you. Mentioned on here it was our main beef about the place. Ridiculous!
  • Has anyone used the MyVegas App on facebook? It's run by MGM and they're offering Rewards in return for points earned in mini games on facebook. I spend a lot of time on Facebook and staying in the Mirage next March. I'm wondering if it's worth playing?
