    VALUE FOR MONEY
I would check with the hotel - some do allow a one-off cash deposit of a smaller amount instead...that way you will know what the alternative is and if it is suitable...some will waive it completely as Froggit has said, if you have no option to charge to the room.

    Their T&Cs state

    INCIDENTALS POLICY
A valid credit card authorized to cover additional room and tax, plus $150 a night for incidentals must be presented upon check-in.

So I would contact them and explain you do not have a credit card, what options are there for the incidentals hold.

You won't want to put your debit card up for it if you don't have enough to cover it or all your funds in your account would be inaccessible until after you check out, that is if they accepted it in the first place.

Roos is in the middle of nowhere really, just a few housed about si probably would need a car for it.

The upgrade we just asked if there were any comp upgrades available and she said she would have a look. Then went on to ask what floor we preferred so asked if we could get a lake view. She said oh yes can upgrade you to this room. Worth asking

We'd def ask for a fountain view room, though I'd really like a corner suite which we've had both times before, esp as they have a washer and dryer (sad but practical!). Though not sure if that would be TOO much of a comp upgrade. Otherwise a regular room with fountain view would be great. Do you have any pics of the view you had which you could post?

Thanks ferf, it may be that we look at car hire for our next trip (hehe, bound to happen!), then we can plan a couple of different trips and make the most of it - Dam, Roos, Primm, etc.

    Hiya peeps,

Just got a quick question, I noticed on a site that cosmopolitan requires a deposit for $150 per day.
Im staying for 11nights and I wont have that kind of money for just deposit.
What is the deposit for? im confused lol x

its a deposit held for charging incidentals to your room, such as the free breakfast deal...which you charge to the room first and later gets deducted from your bill ;)

If Roos N More calendar shows they are open on a day that works for you, you could consider renting a car just for one day, picking up and returning to a Strip hotel or something if you really wanted to make the trip, could use it for some other purposes that day...would probably only cost £25-£30 + petrol. It's a very easy drive.
The problem with that is that they would probable make you purchase the fuel on a take full/return empty, even for one days rental. So they would charge you for a full tank of fuel ($55) and you might only use $10 of it. It would cost you more for the fuel than the rental of the car. I hate that setup but it seems as though all of the companies we have rented from in Vegas and elsewhere are rolling it out now.
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

that's a fair point...I've been given the option when I pick up the car with Dollar every time since I started using CH3000...to either pre-pay for a tank of fuel or return it full...the T&Cs do state that I will have to pay for a tank when I get there, but they ask me if I want to or not...I've never been sure if they give me the option because I'm an Express member and my preferences decline pre-paid fuel...in any event, I totally forgot that that is actually normally part of the T&Cs and agree that would have a big impact on the price for a day's rental.

I think if you booked direct with the agencies US website it may not be a requirement, but then you get into the insurance issue - or lack of insurance waivers without paying out a big chunk over and above...so yeah, I see your point.

  • oooh - Just found out Rod Stewart is on at the Caesars when we are there in Sep :j

Given the days he is playing and the days we are there, we could only go on the Sat / Sun and on ticketmaster the tickets are $250 each plus charges.

Should I wait til we are there and see if we can get them cheaper? Or is that likely to be sold out if I don't buy before we go as they are weekend nights?

Whats the advice from you experts?

    Hi
We stayed at the Vdara in March and had the basic room. Asked if they had any complimentary upgrades and she said we could have a room on the 42nd floor - then apologised that the room had just gone but we could have on the 32nd floor. Got in the room and realised it was a lake view - result! I have photos of the view but no idea how to upload them here :o. Have a good trip.
