There are some links on page 1 to some of the sites that compile discounts like smartervegas.com and travelzoo.com...also

depending on when you are going the Summer of Cirque offer may be on.

Off to have a look at that link for Cirque. We're thinking about going to see Viva Elvis. We wanted to see Ka, but then saw it on TV so not much point now.

Funny how people have been to Vegas a dozen times and still haven't seen or done certain things. I often wonder if we hold back on stuff to give us an excuse to return. Like we need an excuse :rotfl:

We didn't go to the Welcome sign until about 3 years ago, didn't go up the Eiffel Tower until about 4 years ago. Did the Grand Canyon on about our 5th trip. However we did to the Strat and Hoover Dam on our first trip :D

There's nothing I really feel the need to do, well nothing that's been there for the whole time. I did just look up Roos'n'more though and that is interesting. I do wonder if they will be open when we're there.

This year we are driving in from LA because the flights are cheaper. We still have the dilemma of whether or not to go via Lake Havasu to see London Bridge.

I think you're going in September, Lesley? Viva Elvis closes end of August I'm afraid...as for Roos 'n More, if you go, go early as it gets HOT! :)

Oh, and as for the things we haven't done...it may be some unconscious motive to give us a chance to come back...but I think moreso that there's so much to do, and such a 'where the day takes you' sort of place (or can be) that some things just don't get done...we planned to go to the GC on trips 2-5...I think it was maybe trip 11 we finally did and probably only then as it was the trip we brought the in-laws. :)

We stayed a night in Lake Havasu a few years ago when we were driving from the GC to LA.
The bridge spans a man-made canal that has created an island. There are a few touristy shops etc depicting 'what Americans think England is like'. Lake Havasu was full of party people vacationing at the lake.
If it's on your way stop and have a look if you like, but I wouldn't say it's worth taking a big detour :)

Do you mean Viva Elvis is closing for good? Mmmm seems we won't be seeing it. Yes, September it is. We went to Springs Preserve a few years ago, and it was really hot. It's hot even at 10am in summer, the heat is fairly unavoidable that time of year. We'll have to check back the website and see if it's open on a suitable date. We are in LA 31st for 2 nights, then into Vegas, back to LA on 14th for flight on 15th. We've not booked our car yet and might do 2 one ways instead, with Netflights with Platinum upgrade (full tank of fuel). It's actually £1 cheaper to return the car and collect another (with fuel) halfway through, but we're thinking of dropping the car on the friday 7th and enjoying the weekend car free (my birthday is also 9th and I don't want to be driving then). We might pick a car back up on the Wednesday, as we don't leave till the Friday. As long as we get a good mix of sightseeing, shopping and relaxing I'll be happy.

Need to think of another show now.
Thinking of doing Mac King and/or Nathan Burton, although we've seen both (Mac King twice already), I'm sure we'd still enjoy. We also might go to Legends again (been twice to that too).

Yes Viva Elvis is closing for good. And you'd best see Legends if you fancy it as that is closing for good around Sept/Oct.

Hi, I'm looking to go back to Vegas after our first trip last year, it's safe to say I'm hooked! Just wondering what your thoughts are on a tower suite at treasure island and if anyone has paid a cash deposit instead of using a credit card for there room and if so what the amount was per night?
    Thanks, Nat.

We didn't use a cc at either the orlean or the mirage this year. No deposit.

I wouldn't worry about it, I know i've said it before but in my opinion there is no 'good' way to get to Vegas - they're all boring mundane flights, and there's usually something to moan about, be it:
    - food
    - drink (or lack of :D )
    - other passengers
    - crew
    - in-flight entertainment
    - general comfort / temperature / blankets
    - punctuality
    ... and so on

for us, we'll go with whoever is cheapest... if it was free I'd be on it in a blink of an eye!!! :D

I suspect if we could ever justify spending more (ie. not fly economy), then we'd have more reason to moan but as things stand its just a way of getting there for us :D

We have low expectations of service so it helps (admittedly it doesn't make it right though!)

edit: apologies, what I was trying to say was you could spend £1000+ on an economy seat that leaves tomorrow, but it doesn't mean you'll have the perfect flight, or you could get the same flight for half the price with the same problems. Nothing within your control can guarantee or dictate what happens when that sardine can is in the air.

Totally agree, for me the journey is just to be put up with, hunker down fed before boarding, ipod/ ipad for the duration, don't even count on getting any kip, so what bits I do get is a bonus. Only a means to an end in the shortest time possible, direct flights over stop offs etc. For me it's all about being there. I done huge amount of work travel up to 5 years ago, a very watered down version of travel displayed by Mr Clooney in last nights film. But unlike him my idea of a holiday was being able to sit in my garden!

You are not missing much. Easily the worst Cirque show I've seen.
