VALUE FOR MONEYHi All
Bit of help if you dont mind, we are toying with booking for this summer, direct flights looking a good price which is what is tempting us as I am always destroyed by the indirects. Have got a nice price for the signature ($81 a night) but on 31st Aug and 1st and 2nd sept its coming out at $523 for those 3 nights! With that in mind we were thinking of moving somewhere else for those nights. Quite fancy Golden Nugget but am worried pool area will be very crowded and we like to sunbathe most of the day and get out and about at night so a crowded pool is a no no for us.
Any experiences of the Nugget pool area or any ideas of a hotel that isnt too yack that will come in well under $523 for those 3 nights with a good pool area please? Golden nugget is £132 for those 3 nights at the moment.
Any ideas much appreciated! We wont have a car so would prefer somewhere not too far out.
Thanks0 -

ThanksThe common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0 -

It's a bank holiday weekend, so probably rates are somewhat indicative of expected crowds...so there is a chance pools will be crowded wherever you go? Maybe better to look at a property where the pool isn't one of the attractions of the place...but could be everywhere will be quite busy.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

Am happy to look elsewhere, just want to keep the price down from mgm signature level of $523 for the 3 nights! I probably didnt phrase it very well, I dont mind it being busy but I would mind it being so busy that we couldnt get a sun bed etc. As an example, we favour the adults pool at the mgm, busy but not heaving!
Can anyone recommend anywhere else that fits the bill? I was wondering about the las vegas hilton (or whatever its called now!) but wondered how far away that is from the strip? Am also quite into the idea of having a couple of nights around fremont street which is the only reason I was favouring golden nugget0 -

According to googlemaps it's about .5 mile from the Hilton to the Strip via Riviera...but that dumps you out around Circus Circus and maybe not the nicest of areas to be walking after dark...and then depending on where you're going it's a further walk...the monorail goes to the Hilton, but there's a cost associated with that...I've never stayed there but wouldn't really fancy it myself.
Can't really help on the pool thing as we only go early morning for a quick dip then back to the room to head out for the day.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
We've narrowly avoided two labour day weekend (the weekend of the
first Monday of September) the past two years in a row, choosing instead to stay out of town (death valley, zion etc) but from recollection, celebrity hosted pool parties are the big thing on the strip, so I would expect most pools to be heaving - maybe not first thing in the morning but certainly as the day goes on. There'll certainly be plenty of drunk people to keep you amused anyways!
I think will.i.am was doing the one last year at mgm0 -

I think will.i.am was doing the one last year at mgmthe drunk people do amuse me, but I definitely feel a bit like my mum saying things like 'how can they drink so much when its so hot, they will get sunstroke and dehydration!'
In the main the celeb pool parties you have to pay to get into, the mgm one is always in wet republic. I watched an episode of girls of playboy mansion or something like that the week before our first trip to vegas where they all went to a pool party at mgm and suddenly had a frenzy that my swimwear wasnt glamourous enough and a million other shallow stresses. I was very pleased to learn that the pools are just like any other hotel pool anywhere in the world and its only the blonde white thong bikini gals who pay to get into wet republic leaving everywhere else nice and relaxed for everyone else!! :rotfl:0 -

Yes I agree, I wouldnt really want to be wandering round there at night. Another point in favour of a fremont street location then!
Am half wondering about emailing mgm to see if they will reduce the rate slightly for those 3 days as we will be there for 2 weeks in total. Assuming as its a busy weekend they will tell me to get lost but might be worth a try?! I will probably end up just paying it anyway, the signature pools are lovely and quiet even at the weekends so for the sake of all this messing round I might be better just paying up!0 -

), didn't have the patience to put all the detail in
hadn't seen you'd been Vegas before so thought it was worth mentioning
the price hike has always been enough to move us away for the weekend... with the price comes lots of people (which means i don't get my free drinks often enough)
