Wrong, current account searches are full credit searches, and will appear to any other lender who searches the file. The only searches that don't appear are soft searches for ID verification and money laundering. So having a lot of searches for current accounts, will have a negative impact on a persons credit worthiness, as it will look like they are desperate for credit.

In op's case, 2 searches in a year is nothing

I don't remember anything happening in 2007. I remember the re-vamp of the 1992 DPA prompting the changes in 1998. What happened in 2007?
