Halifax did a credit check for an Easycash Account

Heck, I've applied for 3 current accounts and 5 credit cards in the last 3 months, never mind the last year!
2 hard searches in a year isn't going to do anything to your credit report.
All the other lenders see however is this:
30/12/2011Application Type: Current Account
They've no idea what kind of current account, or with who.0 -
I didn't think that Basic accounts reported monthly to the CRA's?0

That's what I thought, I knew they could not see who the agreements were with, but was not sure about the searches. I'd not worry about current account searches either. Most people have more than one bank account now especially given the offers at the moment.
I would however, as a creditor, be a little concerned if I saw multiple Credit Card, Loan searches etc in a short space of time with no agreements, that would indicate that no one is prepared to lend to you. Or if the agreements are there that you could be over committed0 -
I agree Jen, but if I knew they would credit check, I'd have gone ahead and applied for the Halifax Reward current account, with no monthly fees, rather than the most basic one.
The only reason to open it was to not have any additional searches. I don't want to be stuck with their most basic account if they did have to do a full search on me anyway.
Give them a ring, and see if they'll offer you the Reward account instead, or just apply for it anywayDebt free and staying that way! :beer:0 -
Hi PhenoM,
Sometimes it might be worth doing an application on a full current account I.E Halifax.
You never know you may be accepted, Or at worst they will offer you a there basic account there and then.
Most banks will offer you there basic account as long as you meet the criteria.Let the sunshine.0 -

They'll probably do another credit search. When I was refused the Clarity CC, I asked in a branch why, they had no idea, said they'd look into it. Ended up grabbing a fresh copy of my credit report before saying "No idea". I don't know why they couldn't have used the one they got a few days earlier!
Its probably all automated though to be honest.0 -
Was it a full search like the other one for a Credit Card or marked as an enquiry? If it's an enquiry it's nothing to worry about as no one other than yourself can see it.0

They might do another search, but I don't think it will make a huge difference to be honest, with only 2 searches, I'd go for it, at least there's a chance of getting a better account out of it.
Halifax searched me twice when I applied for my Clarity card, on the same day, then did a ML check with call creditDebt free and staying that way! :beer:0 -

Make that a further TWO searches:
16/12/11: HALIFAX PLC, Type: CREDIT CARD
16/12/11: HALIFAX PLC, Type: CREDIT CARD
18/12/11: HALIFAX PLC, Type: CREDIT CARD
18/12/11: HALIFAX PLC, Type: CREDIT CARD
So, to any lender looks at my file, I looks like I applied for 4 credit cards over 3 days, when I actually only applied for 1 !0
