It's amazing to think that this year I WILL BE DEBT FREE!!! I keep looking round my room and thinking that if something's not been used in the past month then I should sell it... :rotfl:
Hope you all have a lovely New Year's Day and are raring to go on the best busting this year! I will work out the total paid off in December and 2011 in total (although we only started this on 15th November...) and let you guys know what it comes to. :j
I think it was InsertWittyName who said that we had already pledged to clear over £2.3m of debt and I'm sure in the next week or so we'll push that over the £3m mark with our new members. If this is the way for us to reduce the fat cat's bonuses who run the banks then I'm happy!!!Once I am debt free, they are not getting 1p of my money to line their own pockets with...
I firmly believe that lending was completely irresponsible, I went uni when they were giving out credit like sweeties and so I took the money without question as there was noone to guide me in the consequences (it seems obvious now but you move away from home for the first time it's all overwhelming to be honest and my parents never had a credit card or a loan and have never been to uni). To allow a 25 year old (I'm now 30) to have £43,073 of unsecured debt is quite frankly frightening (if you add in my student loan and 1/2 the mortgage then it was £113k of debt at 25yrs old and I only earned £16k a year!!!). It has been a noose around my neck since I became an adult BUT IT WILL BE GONE THIS YEAR!!!! :j:j:j
I am so excited!!! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
I really hope that I can get myself motivated enough and on track to get everything paid off, although I need to be paying almost £700 per month to do this! Can I be added to the weightloss please? I don't know my starting weight but I need to lose at least a stone, and I've told MrS we aren't eating out or getting take-aways any more, even if it's just a ready meal we eat, it's got to be a bit better. I want to join SW again but I keep thinking that £5 per week could be going on my debt! Also, I found my food bill increased a lot when following it due to the mountains of fruit I was eating... so not quite sure how I'm going to do the weight loss but I'm sure with the help of all you guys I can figure something out. I'm going to get ebaying but not for a month or so to allow people to recover from christmas. I've also started rewriting my CV to apply for temping jobs so need to get that finished.
I also agree with the irresponsible lending... my first credit card was obtained by the member of staff lying about my income! And I also remember my mum who was on incapacity benefits getting a credit card with a £1600 limit! :eek:Became Mrs Scotland 16.01.16Became homeowners 26.02.16

Jemma, We must've been students at the same time, with us both being 30 and all :eek: but I was just going to say Barclays bank allowed me to have an overdraft of £3000!!!
Now I know I should've been more responsible but what 19 year old student was back in those days?
But I am still paying it off (gahhhhhh!). However it is only £900 now so should be able to pay it off by March!
PS HAPPY NEW YEAR PEEPS!!!In debt no more!0 -
Ok, I hope this is not going to send me over the edge but I think I would like to be added to the weight loss challenge. I tried on my own last year and started out quite well but lost my motivation so perhaps if I join, it might be like a WW meeting without the exorbitant fee! I haven't weighed myself today but will do so first thing tomorrow and every Monday morning thereafter. I'll may review (increase) the amount I want to lose later on...

Things are selling well on Ebay at the moment. I always find the best time to end items is either Sunday or Thursday evening, so if you do it today and list items for 7 days you could do well.Pay off all my debts before Christmas 2015 #165.0
