Okay, just want to do a quick survey - if a friend asked "how much do you actually owe?!" (with a tone of shock/horror) would you:
- tell them how much you owe
- tell them it is none of their business
It depends who that friend is and what your relationship is like. My BF knows how much I owe and I know how much he owes. My family know as well and I speak to my dad and sister about it. Some of my friends know that I'm in debt but not by exactly how much. One of them actually told me about this site and rest is history. I'm sure to remember to thank her when I'm finally debt free. If someone at work asked I'd tell them to mind there own business though one ex work colleague knows that I'm debt but then I'm friendly with her. Just depends. I think you probably know more people who have debt than once who don't.DEBT FREE OCTOBER 2012!Proud to have dealt with my debts!0 -
How come you handed in your notice Kerri? :eek:In debt no more!0
-
Antonia - I mostly tell them as I'm proud to be dealing with it
Kerri - well done on handing in your notice. Let me know how you get on with Lloyds as I would like to do the same. However I remember a few years ago I tried to ask for help and they weren't interestedand actually told me to just stop paying so it would go to their collection team and the. They can help. How awful is that?!?Became Mrs Scotland 16.01.16Became homeowners 26.02.16

Evening all!! I am in a wonderful mood today cos Ive been SHOPPING. With CASH. All accounted for and it felt soooooo good. Am I allowed to talk about shopping??? LOL
I got one of the elusive Babyliss Big Hairs in Wilkinson for £20- they are £49 in Boots/Argos etc. I got my 3 year old a new zip up Gap hoody for £7.99 in the sale (trying to ignore what I spent on the one she was wearing today at Christmas) I got a ROCKING pair of shoes in Peacocks for £20, two new pairs of jeans in Primark, some nails, some hairdye, some fabric for my sewing course, a camera bag for my big photography obsessed daughter and a christmas present for my niece for next year in Gap (pjs- £5.99 instead of £17.95!!)
My new mission is to go into town once a month (if I NEED to) with a set budget and treat myself when everythings accounted for and I can afford it. I was (before christmas and LBM) going into town literally as a hobby and spending £20 here, £12 there on CARP because I was bored, and miserable.
I am still so chuffed about Vanquis- I even talked to husband about it last night when we went out for dinner and he was pleased with me- I sort of told him I still have !!!!ital One to clear but he accepted that and that was brill- when we met I was up to my EYEBALLS in debt (including really scary rent arrears) and was constantly dodging letters/calls/bailiffs.
My next mission now os to start tackling Cap One and do a snowball to see what I need to pay to clear that ASAP.
I really couldnt have done this without you guys and I hope its ok to talk about shopping But I love this thread
Oh and Jakes-Mum- Im hiring YOU for my kids next parties LOL what you are doing for Lily sounds AMAXZING. I am enaming you SUPERMUM xxHave nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful.

idris yes you are allowed to talk about shopping, it's good to reward ourselves every now and then, especially if you got bargains. My Mum's birthday present came today (£39 spent on clinique for £89 worth of stuff). My CK fabric also finally turned up, in two great BIG rolls, so I've taken them off the 1.5m rolls and folded them up, much more train friendly.
I'm in such a good mood this afternoon, such a relief to hand in my notice. Have emailed old colleagues to let them know I'm coming back. I think it's going to be a tight few months in the switchover and I might have to ask Dad for some help eep. I won't be getting my bonus unfortunatelynevermind

Hi antonia 1, if the friend asked me with a tone of shock/horror then I figure that they're going to be judgemental, or they think it's a massive amount, in which case I would avoid giving an answer by asking them why they want to know.
If my friend and I were in the situation where we were sharing, then I would probably tell her. It all depends on the friend and the relationship really.I'm in such a good mood this afternoon, such a relief to hand in my notice. Have emailed old colleagues to let them know I'm coming back. Hi kerri_dfw
Good to hear you've handed in your notice and you're moving forward with your new job :T, sorry to hear you're going to miss out on the bonus though, that would have been the cherry.
I'm currently surfing for flights to New Brunswick, Canada. Any ex-pat canadians know which site is best to look for flights?
We always book through Canadian Affair. Hubby (does all the bookings) he usually takes a look at their website to get prices, sometimes it's cheaper to book the flights through the UK office, and other times it's cheaper to book through the Canada office. If it's cheaper to book via the UK then he rings them, if it's cheaper to book through Canada then he does the website booking. This time it was cheaper to book through the Canada office.0
