I think being on this thread is changing my attitudes towards money too. I said last week we were thinking about a holiday next year once we were DF. I have done some dummy bookings and the cheapest I can find in £3500 self catering :eek:
Last year I would have booked it without even thinking about it, but this year I have a new attitude and I walked away. We are doing a no-frills flight and renting an apartment and car and the total cost will be about £1700 for the 6 of us.
Still chipping away at the 1st CC, I think by Monday it will be under £1900.:T
Package holidays are *so* expensive, we always book independently. We're doing 6 days in Rome in June, for 5 of us -flights were £400, B&B is £500. We'll use the metro to get about, so it's just lunches, dinners and spends. A City break package on a B&B basis for the same time would have cost us £2500. :eek:Long haul supporter #290POAYDBX2014 #043LBM Dec 2011 Debt £51K Debt Nov 2014 £42K0 -
Good Morning all
Can I please be added onto the list for pound-busting. I have 56 pounds to loose. Can't believe that I have let myself slip so badly. Have a gorgeous new man and really want to feel good about myself so here I go. Just going out for a run now. Have a great day everyone. :T0 -
Ooooh can I join this please?? I'm hoping to do it by sept 2012 and with determination I should manage it. I'm a public sector worker and as far as I know my job is safe until at least Xmas. If I could crush my debt I'll be in a much healthier position if and when the axe falls !0

We currently have around £7500 in debts and I really want to clear these by Christmas this year. It causes me sleepless nights and I really believe I could do with the support. I have so many letters that I just don't open any more :embarasse, I will go through them all this week and find out the exact figure. I am scared to do this.
I've buried my head in the sand for to long. I really have to sort this out.
Could I please join?
Ahhh welshone hug to you, everytime you feel fear of your post just think 'its only a bit of paper it cant actually hurt me even if I dont like the contents'. Never be scared to try and tackle your debt and remember every member of this entire board has been or is in exactly the same position as you, some through frivolous spending, some through necessity but all knowing that terror that you have debt hanging over your head and cant see the day when it will be gone.
We are a lovely bunch here and are more than happy to listen to each other moan about anything and everything . . . like my DH :rotfl: so anytime something happens good or bad you can tell us. Plus if you get a really scary letter, open this thread before you open it as that way we will be holding your hand, write a post as you do it if it makes you feel better even if you dont post it

If anybody is reading this and hasn't joined yet i absolutely urge you to!
Even if you join and you only manage to clear half your debts you are well on your way to busting the other half! Don't be scared, have a go! I'm sure you can all see we are a really friendly bunch! It's a shame the others who started with us have disappeared. I hope they return.......:(

Just got woken up for a 2nd time this morning by the OH calling me. Will he never learn that on a Sunday you don't call before 12? Lie-in destroyed, and I didn't go to bed until 2.30am as I was still doing fleabay stuff. Now to list 50 items that I wrote up yesterday before re-photographing the scarves & belts that the camera decided not to photograph grr... it's going to be a long day.

Thanks to everybody for the warm welcome and although I feel the anxiety rising, I'm motivated and ready to tackle this head on.
All this talk of holiday's, I know it's early in the year but I feel I'm going to have to say no to the sister, daughter and better half:(.0
