  • Congratulations Natlie!! - many of the photos friends/family took of my wedding were nicer than the photographer's ones as they were more natural and relaxed :). Although we didn't have an official wedding video - 2 people took videos and gave us copies. I think expensive weddings are the cause of a lot of peoples' debt and it's only 1 day in the rest of your married life together, so frugal is the way to go :).

Ruthy1604 - I rarely ever have NSDs either what with dinner money, bus fares, food etc, etc. It's just not a practical option for me. I'm quite good at 'not spending on unnecessary things days' now though -NSUTDs? - not quite as catchy ;)

Kerri - your challenge last week was to get all spending money out for month and split into 5. Thanks for this week's challenges as I think I'll be good at them ;). I rarely ever buy on Internet and I've already been through my wardrobe and chucked the horrible stuff :)

So far so good with holiday spending. Yesterday went to town, DS2 and friend had money to spend, I only bought essentials. Parked in Asda so free as spent over £2 on groceries. Today friends round so NSD.

Mrs Pee - welcome to the challenge :)

Jakes-mum - spending SB does not count, maybe I should ban you from buying any stuffing instead? :p I remember when my sister and I were kids we'd spend hours in the close near our house on our bikes, we'd go round and round and round, make daisy chains and roll around in the grass, cost nothing and we were perfectly happy :)

Jemma - I didn't even think about you all wearing ALL of your clothes, hahahaha pictures please!

Catmort - have you gone for a run this evening? Hope work was less tiring. I can't seem to get my head around EEBA just yet, I think I put too many things in it and overwhelmed myself so I'm going to try to start again. I got a NSD today :D yippee, I'll race you for who can get the most this month.

Fallenwiccan - I started a day late, so we can do no online shop from yesterday onwards :)

Camuk - you're always one step ahead of my challenges ;) well done on the sort through though and we all deserve nice pants every now and then :) I'm about to learn to make my own! I was inspired by Marys Bottom Line last week.

Kerfuffle - ah thanks, I didn't realise that I was as I was in Edinburgh last week wihtout interwebs I got all confused. Oh well, it makes up for the Christmas one I missed :)

Natlie - congratulations on the wedding, and amazing that you've managed it on a shoe string I'm in awe. Will it also be in Wales? Hope the weather improves for it.

K30lly - you're doing really well :) 1% is £143.83. Have you considered the payment a day challenge where you pay as little or as much as you want each day, but you make a payment everyday? It's meant to be addictive and I've heard people end up making sure they have a NSD so they can make a payment.

Ruthy - your kids school sure like trips, where to today? I think you can manage NSDs by putting money into pots on payday, then the money's already allocated so you don't count it :D then you just have to try not to spend anything extra. But there are real hardcorers that do it by not spending anything on anything in a day. I think I prefer the former though :) if only I could stick to it.

Barbeduk - £1 on kids entertainment isn't bad at all, are you doing as others did in half term and giving them a set budget for the time off so they know how much is left?

Antonia1 - congrats on the insurance refund :) You're almost at 50% whoop whoop exciting

Hummingbird - you're over 10% of the way there now and it's lovely to hear from you again :) it's funny how it all starts to add up when you start paying it off isn't it?

Mrs Addicted to Spending - ahhh that was the one, I completely forgot what it was, whoops! I didn't manage it either :( must try harder, although I am managing my £50 a week when it's not payday week that is.

I'm just about to pay my £1 to the c/c for the day, I'm going to try to pay £1+ everyday :) Then I've got an evening of fleabaying planned now that I've downloaded the app for that to my laptop :D

  • I am back after a very cheap holiday £40 all in I think. Has been lap of luxury thanks to my wonderful friend who has provided excellent hosting & accommodation :T

I don't think it is too cliquey on here. It is understandable that the people who post most reply personally to each other - I find everyone very encouraging and it is the friendliest thread I have read on MSE :A

I don't post often but read posts every few days so usually just make a general comment about everyone doing so well and by that I do mean EVERYONE. I really believe that I will be debt free this year and with the support on here it is a lot loss painful than previous debt-busting attempts.

I like the weekly challenges and again tho I don't post about them I do try to do them. So thanks everyone again for being on this post and being so supportive

Love the extra good news posted too so congratulations to Natalie :happyhear

I did go for a run, although it started to rain after about 10 minutes so I got soaked and I curtailed it by about 5 minutes...I'm not sure I'm up for this running malarkey!

I found eeba slightly confusing at the start, but when I got my head round which pots to put in the monthly & irregular sections it made so much sense - it even tells you when you're ahead or behind with spending with smiley envelope faces! Very motivating :)

Congrats on the NSD :) Bring. It. On!! :D On that note, I'm off to do an unscheduled trip to the supermarket next door to get some salad items...:o

Glad to hear you had a lovely time vw camper, I have no idea how to go on holiday for £40 and that's just for me, petrol alone costs me more than that unless I were to go camping at the bottom of the garden or on the allotment....ooh there's an idea ;)

Cat, I think I will have to look it up on the website as I still don't quite get it. I have bought things this month that don't fit into the envelopes, so no idea where I should put them eep! I shall read the site and try to work it out. For someone that works with computer software all day, I'm clueless when it's outside of my realm of reference.

I'm being greenfingered and planting some seeds at the moment :)

They do have a video on their website, might help?
Maybe you're being too specific? Here's my envelopes - hope this helps:
    Monthly
    Rent
    Travel
    Mobile phone
    Charity donations
    Food
    Yoga
    Choir
Spending money / miscellaneous (for random things!)
    Going out

    Annual/Irregular
    Household bills
    Toiletries
    Clothes
    Birthdays
    Emergency fund
    Haircuts
    Holidays
Debt repayments (put the whole amount in to pay off by the end of the year, then it tells you how much to pay off each month)
    House/car savings

I work with computer software all day too, people don't seem to understand that it doesn't mean you know everything about computers!!

Where do you get your seeds from? I wanted to grow some cress, but don't know where to get it from...
