Morning all! My money this month has been as follows:

Paid out (stupid car) - £500
Paid out (stupid ex boyf) - £400

    So total debt = £3895 (original) + £900 = £4795

However, this month I am be making a massive payment of £775 (half my take-home pay), so I've paid off a total of £2015 so far. So my update please Jemma:

    011 antonia1 £1,970 / £4,795 41.08%

So all of that doesn't actually seem as bad as I first thought. The car was scrapped yesterday, the tax disc has been returned and I cancelled my car insurance. So I am awaiting cheques for £155, £70 and £330 respectively. Which will all go straight off my debt, and covers what the car cost me when it broke!

I've taken out my spending money for the month, split it into 5 envelopes and I'm going to be very good at sticking to my budget, as I desperately want to reach the 50% mark as soon as possible.

    Afternoon all.

Well, I'm bowing out of the challenge. Multiple imminent, large expenses on my existing car have meant keeping it is an exercise in idiocy, so I've taken the plunge and bought another. It's under warranty and comes with a service pack, so the stability of it means I can plan for the future far better.

I now won't be able to be debt free by Christmas. I will, however, be in a FAR FAR better position financially than I was in October when I first decided to take action.

So thanks guys, I'm still taking action on my debt and will continue to drive toward that magical DFD. So long, and thanks for all the fish. ;)

Why don't you just exclude that debt and keep with what you have. It's a shame to lose people at this stage :(
    In debt no more!

Oh Pedro, dont leave us :( you dont have to get debt free by xmas really to be a part of the group :(

I am quite impressed with myself today, While rummaging in the cupboards I found the big glass sweet jar I won last year that I gave to DS for his birthday (it was full of sweets, I didnt just give him an empty jar ) so I washed it out, went to the £1 shop and the local sweet shop, spent £3 and filled it back up for DH's present from the kids (I think I need a few more sweets as its not completely full, but should still manage to do it for £4 max :D)
He is getting all the money ive saved through 2nd pursing as well to go to the BMF bike show, but I like him to have something to open on the day :o

  • Yes Pedro don't leave us - you could just try to pay off what you had for this challenge and pay the car loan separately :D.

I can't update my signature, it keeps saying the bb code is too long.

Any clues? I just want to change the numbers, nothing fancy!

Well I would be sorry to see you leave Pedro.

My debt target for this year isn't the full amount, there's more to be dealt with next year. And this year is nowhere near on target either so it's probable that it won't be done for this Christmas either.

I'm still sticking at the challenge though hence this quote taken from my previous post "to bank any leftover/spare cash and then just transfer it once a month" as (with the exception of the loan payment) spare cash from frugal grocery shopping and birthday money is all I have to throw at my debts at the moment.

I hope you change your mind Pedro but I respect your decision to leave the challenge and wish you well for the future.

I'm not sure Karenann, but there seems to be a big gap after the last line of your signature, maybe you have used some lines that are blank which are using up your 'allowance'.
