  • Hi all. Ive had a very naughty spendy day BUT once again all real money, no credit card and all house stuff not clothes ( i have struggled with a clothes shopping "addiction" for a while). I went to the Cath Kidston sale and spent £47, so not hugely spendy by some standards but I still felt guilty. However we did find a parking ticket someone had left so saved £1.60 on that and put £34 worth of crockery back :)
I also signed myself up for an Adult Education Sewing class starting next week!! I had picked up the prospectus to find one and usually do this and never actually follow it thorugh so today I rang up to check if there were places, filled in the form, drove to the benefits office to get form stamped, drove to Adult Education centre to hand form in and pay. WHen I picked up my dd from nursery I checked if she can do an extra hour on Fridays and booked her in so Im all good to go next friday! How exciting :)
I am going to do an inventory of my freezer(s) tomorrow as i had an epic challenge fail by going to Asda and spending £174 on food. I blame the fact I had husband andkids with me......However Im hoping I can manage the rest of the month on minimal funds as I have milk and bread in freezer and so much stuff frozen/in cupboards its obscene. I started meal planning again this week and I LOVE it. Its so easy once I know what we're having each night and know I have all the ingredients in

Jakes-Mum- congrats on your win- so pleased for you.
Right- mint tea and a curly wurly o'clock I think :)

  • Howdy everyone, just checking in.

Good on you Jakes Mum, you deserved a break

Pedro, I am liking your ambition, not 1 but 2 half marathons!!! a goal as cool as being debt free in 2012! I did one 6 years ago now... wow where did that time go.... anyway all the best for the training there.

Now - back to some DFW stuff, I've done a few things since the 1st.

    0. Tallied all my cards/overdrafts/debts - finally have a true number I can work with
    1. Finding Android App for daily spending diary - finally decided on "Daily Money" after testing a few. It shows your total balance which is what I am most interested in, and after some initial fiddling, can be quite fast to input spend items and transfers between accounts.
    2. Spent only £8.43 (20 cigarettes and £1.40 sandwich) with 4/5 NSD's in Jan so far, have had to work 1st till today so this is quite good for me.
    3. Taken lunch in 3 times, had a free lunch on the first - someone had a leftover Egg sarny.
    4. Only had 5 cigs yesterday, only 1 today, unfortunately just moments ago i caved in - however i will still be on the patches tomorrow and will keep trying - im usually 15-20 a day person - so i'll try not beat myself too bad about that.
    5. I "was" massively into my online gaming and just out of curiosity went back into my old account to see how much my virtual items were worth, to my surprise about £80. So slapped that on Ebay on a 5 day auction so hope that comes out fine.

I'm seriously toying with the idea of selling my DSLR camera I bought 2 years ago. I rarely use it, its a D90 with kit lens Bought for £800 quid and have since bought a tripod, original battery grip, a second hand 85mm 1.4 lens for £600 and a nice protective bag to put all my toys in... its heart breaking but i think i will only get around £400 for the camera, and maybe £500 for the 2nd lens i bought on ebay. It will certainly help with getting DF by 2012 xmas but it just takes the most gorgeous pictures.... Don't know what to do!

  • Oh before i forget, I must fix that computer i've been meaning to fix for my sister, originally bought off ebay on the cheap for her - but never got round to fixing the sound on it - she'll give me £100 squids when i finally pull the proverbial finger out.

Pedro, I've only ever run 2 miles, 10 might kill me but I'm up for a challenge. Can I do the slightly warmer, and nearer south run though? We can have a time challenge. I didn't run tonight like I was meant to as got back at 7.30pm after spending 45mins trying on boots in Wallis before deciding on a pair of dark brown work boots and a pair of gloves to spend my £50 voucher on :)

gemred nice one on the fabric, if you use a cheap white or something for the side you never see you can make matching pillows too :) If you want I can find you the link that taught me how to make chinese knot buttons, they'd look super cute as fastenings and are really easy to do. Wouldn't cost you a penny more as you just use scraps from the CK fabric :)

I'm feeling really frustrated that I'm making minimum payments this month, I really want to be paying more off :( Well done to all of those that are still going strong.

jakes-mum don't give DH any of that prize money for his game! Hide it then give it to him to buy your birthday present with, or for the car/motorbike/etc teehee

Not much:(but at least it is going down now:o

    Hi Brokenpromiseland,

Well done on your first payment. Don't think to yourself that it's "not much", any payment is a step in the right direction and any additional payment is a brilliant achievement.

I owe money to satanander and Bank of Mum & Dad, the money that goes to satanander doesn't take any effort as it's a standing order so the debt will be paid off when it's paid off and not a day sooner. The Bank of Mum and Dad is a different matter, this is any extra money that I can find, make or stretch from housekeeping so real effort goes into paying this debt, which is why it's dribs and drabs, but this is the debt that I'm more dedicated to.

So be proud of the amount you've paid :)
