Finding things tough again this week. I'm off my feet at the moment so hubby is having to do everything including the cooking. The way the house looks at the moment he isn't doing the tidying or the cleaning though ;) Anyway, back to the cooking, he is driving me insane as he is spending a fortune on ready prepared stuff rather than looking at what we have and what he could make. I know I shouldn't be tough on him but all budgets are out of the window until I am mobile again.

Another thing, my laptop seems to have died - it won't switch on - the lights just flash on and off. All my spreadsheets are on there and I feel that I've had my right arm cut off not being able to look through them. Hopefully hubby will take me to pc world tomorrow to get it checked out. I will then put the spreadsheets into my dropbox account so I can access them from other computers.

Oh no hun *hugs*, how long do you think you'll be off your feet for? I can really tell how frustrated you are by this and your laptop. Hopefully your laptop can be fixed and then that would be at least one thing off your mind! Does your hubby cook at all? Just trying to work out if he can't cook as opposed to won't cook... xxx
New Debt Journey: Pay off £19,622.91 by 30th April 2015 :T

  • Afternoon you lovely lot :)

Its been a little while so thought I'd come in and update you on things (and sound off a little bit too). Sadly I fell off the wagon a bit spend wise, I only had one NSD last week, sadly I've allowed a couple of things to p*ss me off and I really should have dealt with them better

What happened was a little while back myself and my brother applied to be contestants on a gameshow (another reason I hadn't mentioned it before, sworn to sercrecy over it) and we were basically accepted and shortlisted. For me anyway, its something I have always wanted to do, I fancy myself as a trivia bod after all :)

Anyways we were happy about that and all arrangements were madfe, we were given info packs on what to wear, what to bring, the general process, release forms etc. We were told to basically be at a tube station the other end of London first thing saturday morning (saturday before last) and we would be picked up in a cab. All swimmngly great so far.

Anyway we were then called and told as we're in Lonodn, theres no point in coming the studio straight away as we'd be sat around doing the proverbial sod all, so they would call us when they were ready and we could then hop the train and go there when we were needed. Ok no problem

Cue us sitting round doing nothing all day until we get a call a 7pm. Filming has overrun and we wont be needed just yet. Ok these things happen, so we asked would we be needed tomorrow. We were told again not to worry, to sit tight and we would be called.

Sunday once again we heard nothing. My brother decided to ring them and find out what the deal was, as by now its 4pm and we've pretty much wasted our weekend. We were told their still over-running, not to worry sit tight and we'd be called. They asked if there was problems with availability. I said no. I personally had booked a week off work, but this was basically so I could do that, spend a week up with the missus (valentines day etc) and I also had a job interview up there on the tuesday, which I informed them about previous. Once again we were told it should be ok and they'd let us know when we'd be needed.

That was it. No further contact. At all.

I went to East Anglia on monday morning as planned, but knowing might need to come back to London at a drop of a hat I had to get an open off peak train ticket. This set me back near enough 50 quid. I never buy these now as I always either book trains or 90% of the time now use Megabus

My brother and I were in constant contact, neither of us heard a dickie bird since the sunday. We were going to ring them up wednesday and be like "whats going on" but we, quite rightly in my book, took the view of that its not for us to chase them up over this. They should show courtesy and call us. Maybe I was being a little naive

End of the day in my book, I've had a week off that I didn't really need to take (and have now lost) I'm 50 quid out of pocket on the trains, and wse haven't even had the courtesy of a phone call to say thanks but no thanks we dont need you. If I'd received that I wouldn't have really been as bothered as I am now but the whole smacks of disrespect to myself and my brother you get me?

Anyway, aside from that I had a job interview up nearer to her (which I thought went well, hope to hear back, but the money still has to be better than what I'm on now or the object of getting debt free will be defeated), and we had a nice meal out for Vaentines day, yes it wasn't cheap but its once in a blue moon you know...

And I finally got to break my taste card in at Bella Italia. I tell you what I'm thankful I had that card as there would be no way in hell I would have paid a full bill for the service we received. I don't know whether we having the pee taken out of us a little for being on the 50% off list (and to be fair there were a few ppl there using theirs too) But we were being left to sit 15 mins at a time before anyone even bothered to take our orders, drinks were taking 10mins plus to come to our table, and twice our drinks order were just forgotten about. No one was basically bothering with us to check if we were ok or needed anything. I wont be going there again

And I got stuffed 8-3 in my last league match

So yes an eventful week lol

aww, lashley82 sounds cr**py :( I hope getting it off your chest has helped a little ;)

I meant to have a rant last night but clearly got over it all too quickly: I spent about £12 in the shop on my lunch break yesterday then left the stupid bag on the stupid train home

Am consoling myself with a take-away roast chicken dinner, which just cost me £5.75  Totally worth it though:p (It will come out of my weekly pm allowance - not all is lost ;))

Feeling particularly exhausted at the moment and also very weak. Not unusual for me but I've also been shaking a lot the last couple of days which is very unlike me. Will have to pay a trip to the dreaded doctor if it doesn't stop soon :(

Money is looking good, though not as good as it could look. Pay day on Friday so by then I will have paid at least £200 extra to the cc on top of normal month end payments. I will also have technically cleared my credit card balance, though this is only because my wedding money is being used to reduce the interest, so the balance will probably go up again. I'm therefore still not counting it as paid off, iyswim. It does mean that I should only have two more interest payments though :j

  • On the plus side though I've made the first steps to changing banks. What I'm basically looking to do is open a new account elsewhere (new bank, new start, new habits etc) then every month transfer a nominal amount into that account for me for the month, say for arguments sake £250-£300. My debit card will also be at Mrs Lashleys so that can't be touched

That way I live off what I transfer in. Everything else is left in my other bank, which I will still use for my bills, and paying off my debts that need to be paid off. Then when the overdraft has been gradually whittled down to zero I can finally make the total move and transfer all my Wages/Incomings/DD's etc into my new account and close out of HSBC

EDIT I hope some of the things I say make sense lol. I know I tend to just type and spew at a million miles an hour as things come into my head!

    Fresh Slate anyone :)
