not read through most replies yet, but in 10 years time when the kids are grown up and you look back whats going to give you better memories? A lovely weekend away with the kids or knowing you paid youd CC off a few weeks/month/couple months earlier?
I say go for it, life is too short :T
This is where I got to with psychobabbles pm'sMy lad isnt getting any younger, hes going to be 11 in May so starts secondary school this september. I like watching them going crazy in the pool, Miss Lily really needs to start learning to swim as well and tbh our local pool is too far away (in the building) for me to get too and its bloomin cold  swear they dont know what indoor heating is :rotfl:
not a great introduction, but as an alternative idea - Jake's mum, why don't you decide to have the weekend away BUT instead of going for this side of the summer peak season, aim for the other side, much later on in the year when it get's cheaper again? just a suggestion, but you'll be much, much, less in debt than now(we all will be!), and it's something to look forward to/aim towards for most of the year,
This was the other alternative and im arguing over the 'time to save' versus 'taking Jake out of secondary school for 2 days'mumof3plusoh wrote: »Jakes mum you sound like you really need this holiday. Like others have said before you can make it as cheap as possible. Sandwiches to take out in the day and a flask etc. When we went to Skegggy a few yrs back we took a few disposible (sp) bbqs so that was a couple of nights teas and kids loved it. You can make such fantastic memories to the cost of finishing your debt 1/2 months early. I know what I would do but in your heart of hearts you know what is best for you and your family. HTH Also hope you are feeling a little better.
Lool I always do HM sandwiches, cereal/beans on toast brekkies. Only thing we buy is dinner if we go away (even on holidays abroad ive been known to stuff the suitcase full of baked beans, choc bars, crisps etc :rotfl:) I like the bbq idea though :T
Look at you all shamelessly telling me to book it :rotfl:My DH would love you all. Just to further push you, DH actually works 70 hr weeks and is often away from home which is a big 'yes he deserves a break' with me, hes an agency worker so only guaranteed another 9 weeks work which is the bit holding me back
. The problem is hes been an agency worker for 2 years now and this has always been the excuse not to do it. But if im honest we could still be this position in 2 years time so how long do I let it stand in the way of a break away

Jakes-mum, you didn't post on here for us to tell you no otherwise you wouldn't have asked. Book the holiday and stop thinking up excuses
I'm really annoyed. I posted a silk scarf on Saturday that had never been worn as it never suited me and I'm not a silk scarf kind of person. This was a fleabay sale by the way. I marked it as "new without tags" on the description, as to me unworn without tags is the same as brand new. The person has put positive feedback but said that it was really creased when it arrived, and didn't feel or look new.... I'm really miffed. How are you meant to transport silk in the post without it creasing??? silk is one of the creasiest fabrics there are!!! As for the rest, the scarf has been in the bottom of my drawers for about 18 months, so probably doesn't have that dusty shop smell anymore. Eugh! People annoy me.Diary: Getting back on track for 2013 and beyondDEBT FREE 13-10-13 :dance::dance::dance::dance:

Yes, yes and yes again, almost at the 20% mark, going better than I thought, actually bit the bullet today and sorted out my council tax, have been overpaying, owed almost £3000 this time last year, now down to £735, OMG I could not believe how nice they were, just goes to show, if you admit problems, very often people will listen, so asked to reduce the amount to pay for a couple of months so that i can finish the last PDL as not heard from the credit union, and so want it gone, told the council the truth and they were amazing, so WTG council people.:T
Bit of advice if anyone wants it, nothing is more scary than a debt, talking to someone is often the best place to start and not as embarrassing:o as I thought it was going to be, in fact refreshing, if I had found this site a year ago, who knows what I might have accomplished, wouldn't have touched a PDL:eek: that's for sure.Sealed pot (who knows?)
All debts paid in 2013 :T, apart from overdraft, now to tackle that:)

Had a fab time at the cinema today - I've never seen it so busy. We paid £1.50 per ticket and took our own sweets from the 3 bags for £1 range at A**A - going again on friday. The girls really appreciated the treat and remembered to take the money from their "half term budget". We came home and they made us tea - aged 9 and 6 so it was sandwiches/picnic on the rug in the lounge - they decided that MaccyD's would bite into their budget a bit too much0

So now my sister is upset with me and I've had my brother-in-law saying I should go to her party as she's only 30 once, and my debts aren't going to be paid off this month so what's the difference if I delay it by a bit. Great, now I have lost a friend as well due to money - is it really worth it? Maybe I should suck it up and go after all.Debt Free by Xmas 2012 member #281: £6,627.08/£7,735.45 (85.67%)0

Cat, will you feel better spending what I'm guessing is going to be a £100.
Sorry why can't you take her to a dinner elsewhere and use a group on. Yes every penny matters. Though having said that I just voted for the holiday post!
Is she really going to hold it against you for the rest of her life. If its one of those things that will be brought up at Christmas and dinners I'd be tempted to go. If not take her to bella italia where they do 2 for 1 just you and her without everyone else!
See Martins thread on specials. Or pizza Express?0 -
PS Does anyone else get itchy fingers when checking their balance.
I have a £69.49 buffer in my account and I want to pay some more debt off but pay day is a week away and daren't spend it! Just incase!0 -
OK Cat, this is starting to annoy me. I do not think it is acceptable that you are being emotionally blackmailed by your sis like this. So, it is her 30th birthday...every birthday is special and I am sure you have made a fuss of her on every single other bday too. I don't like the way that her brother-in-law is wading in either. I love :Tthe idea of you taking her out to Bella's for a sister's outing. I am not trying to cause strife in your family; I just do not think that you are the only person in the family to struggle to come up with the REQUIRED not REQUESTED fee for this extravaganza?
Good Luck, I do not envy your decision, but we are here if you want to vent!
PS How is your hand Jemma? If you need to take a bit of Sick Leave from all the MSE keyboard work involved with updating our totals etc, pls do not hesitate to ask-I could peck in the totals (mostly correct ones too!) with two fingers x
PPS Camuck, we have similar usernames - how did you come up with yours? Mine is the name of the local ice-hockey team x'You've got to tell your money what to do or it will leave!' Dave Ramsey0 -

Mine is very boring! Its a version of my name and that's it really.
As for updating its poor Jemma who has to do it as she created the thread, she has been a hero for keeping this going and providing massive inspiration to all of us.0
