Hope you all enjoyed Valentine's day :smileyhea .
A small miracle but true. Just been out for a walk during lunch hour around the park. DH is beginning to see money/debt from my point of view finally :T and has decided that this summer we should try to grab a last minute bargain or even a holiday in this country instead of doing our annual summer holiday (which usually ends up costing us way more than we expect despite doing it ourselves)
Now if only I could convince him that the credit card is to be used in emergencies only and not to book a spontaneous night away. I know he says we'll just pay if off on payday but there's the other £3000+ on the CC I'd rather be tackling than just paying off what's been put on
Hoping to hit 25% debt paid off on Friday0 -

- I think those markers on the way to debt free ness are so important. I was v v pleased to go under £10k. Next month (payday 2 weeks today hurray) I hope to be 30%.
Let us know yr next plan to go under £4kpsychopathbabble wrote: »I think making the most of our little milestones keeps us on the right track to becoming debt free.... when I made it to 4 figures I was SO happy.... now I'm getting it down even lower, I'm starting to do that thing of spending the money in my head before I've even got it and relaxing about making payments to debt.... I do want to get it all paid off but in my head 3k isn't anywhere near as bad as 13k!
You're right it's the milestones that keep you on track. And posting about it even if you just had one person say well done you it makes you feel really chuffed about it. I couldn't wait to get to under 5 and now I'm chomping at the bit to get to under 4! When I hit 2500 I might have a little celebration lol _party_
I haven't quite formulated a dastardly plan as yet. My problem is money burns holes in my pockets.... always has done, so this is helping me knuckle down and stop being so cavalier with my money, which isn't really my money because it belongs to everyone I owe money too doesn't it. I saw on my spreadsheet my figure remaining was just over 5000 after I'd made my payments this morning so I thought, I'm not having that, and shuffled a couple of things around to make an extra payment to the credit card.
Well done everyone so far! (with slightly dodgy looking group hug smiley) :grouphug:0 -
Ok am I completely insane? ive been sat here this morning looking at booking a weekend break for the 4 of us  I was looking at one of those caravan sites, and if we went for 3 nights at the end of april it would cost £165 for the top caravan type for the 4 of us
BUT I have debt to pay!! I could pay that £165 off a credit card . . . BUT with all the debt paying I know that we will not go on holiday this year at all, we didnt have an actual holiday last year, just that 2 nights away in skegness just me and DH. We havent been away as a family in pro 3 years now . . . Someone tell me im crazy to be even contemplating spending money of taking them away for a breakSPC No 002 SPC(3) £285/£250 (4) £519.84/£500 (5) £768.32/£500 (6) £911.30/£600 (7) £913.23/£600 (8) £1184.82/£750 (9) £2864.04/£750 (10) £3846.25/£1000 (11) £1779.72/£1000 (12) £1596.55/£1000 (13) £1534.70/£1000 (14) £775.60/£1000 (15) £700.20/£1000 (16) £2081.34/£1000 (17) £1691.15/£1000 (18) £225/£10000 -

I'm not going to tell you not to go away.... but I will say if you DO go away, make it cheap as possible. Did you look at H0seasons? I've just paid £240 (between 4 of us) for a 4 night stay in 2 weeks time. Only you can make that decision but it sounds like you need a boostIf you do decide to go away, don't beat yourself up about it.... or book one for later in the year? x

:rotfl: That was exactly the site I was looking at :rotfl:
I was looking at the skegness area again as Dh and I enjoyed our 2 days there, we really are walks along the beach, 2p slot, fish and chips type of people and we said at the time the kids would love it there (give them sand and they are happy)
We stayed with Park Res0rts last time and had a Gold standard caravan, andyou could see the difference between bronze and gold as you drove past. I cant book the lowest level anyway as DS is allergic to pet hair and as these are the ones they allow pets to stay in . . . I know they clean them but you cant guarantee they get rid of it all
I think the difference between the caravan I was loking at and the silver was about £20, so not a massive amount and for that we got a DVD player/microwave etc which did make a huge difference last time. We literally went back after dinner and watched a film each night
Oh im just talking myself into it hereDH's contract ends at the beginning of april ish so it would be perfect time wise, but obv he has no guaranteed job so I could be spending mortgage money theoretically

Hmmm... I may not tell you what you want to hear but maybe a holiday would be nice IF you could do it cheaply. We've booked a week in Wales in June but we're planning on taking all our own food (HM meals etc) so we don't eat out and plan to do lots of walking/lazing on the beach, weather permitting. If there's plenty to do on site/nearby that won't cost anything/much (beaches, on site pool, entertainment) maybe you should consider it. Especially as you've worked so hard debt-busting, this could be a treat for yourself.
Do you feel your debt is manageable and you can afford a little break from debt busting? You don't want to spend all holiday worrying about how you could've paid off some debt.
Or maybe see if you can earn a bit extra by fleabaying etc to pay for the break xxx0 -
