Cars really are a nightmare, I dread my MOT every year - passed first time and only cost £110 for a service too - and a free lolly :D

I am literally counting down the 6 days til payday... then I can pay off my Capital One credit card in full. Never ever done that before but it will be the first of many times this year! Just applied to 2 NHS jobs too (want to be a nurse so being a healthcare assistant will really help with my application to the RAF in October - horrah) exciting times are ahead!

Well done to everyone still making payments - you are so inspiring!! xxx

rdchick good luck with the RAF application, my sister is in the RAF as a medic and she loves it.

Thanks Macca, want to be a Nurse rather than a medic but still pretty awesome! Got a lot to do before I can get in though ;) xxx

Mine's normally about this. I've got it due end of Feb (maybe end of March if I don't use as many miles as expected). I should have about £300 set aside just in case, but hoping it won't be this much. They do make the car last longer though so I don't begrudge doing it.

This is why I am now going to be adopting your pots/ envelopes idea so I have money there when these things come up! When thinking about it, my OH said that due to the fact it only gets service every 20,000 miles/2 years, that is why it is costing more than we thought. His car gets done every year and is about £140. Makes sense!

Hey ho, will be a awesome feeling next time when there is actually money to pay for it!!!

To help with this week's challenge the NHS's Change 4 Life web site has a meal planner where you can choose which recipes you like for a 7 day period and it will produce a PDF for you with your 7 day plan, your shopping list and the recipes - very useful!

Each meal is for 4 adults and should cost around £5 to make as well as being healthy :j

I know a lot of us DF'ers have already set up spreadsheets to keep track of payments etc but if you haven't and you'd like to do one but don't know where to start I thought I'd share mine and if it helps anyone then I'm truly happy :) I did myself this spreadsheet this week to keep track of the amount of each of my debts, payments made and a summary sheet of how I'm doing toward the target and totals to update the forum (after I made such a dogs dinner of my initial adding up lol)

The first sheet has basic instructions just so you know how it all operates as I've added lots of formulas to make things work automatically with only basic input of initial figures and then subsequent payments :)

I've made this blank copy and shared it so I think you should be able to make/save a copy for yourself in Google Docs or download a copy and then enter your own info.

    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0ArMQ10ztnRXIdFdpUFNuR3JsNTZrTnhqeXRwWVFhUUE

Let me know if the link doesn't work... I may have dome something supremely untechnical whilst sharing :rotfl:

3 NSDs so far this week, getting paid tomorrow and £180 odd left in the bank account :j
Just a shame about the £400 spending on the (0%) credit card :rotfl:

I spent hours last night going through the forums and getting organised for the challenges etc so hopefully February will be short and sweet, even if I am a little tired today!

Ok. I seem to be posting a lot today but have put together a list of money saving things I must do this week:

*Change my car insurance policy from Comprehensive to 3PFT expected saving: £250 should be able to get some cashback too  I would do this now but need to double check my no claims
*Investigate my water supply for leaks (metered bill up from £12pcm to £32pcm!) expected saving £240 (though likely to be offset by plumber's fee in the short term. Better for the environment though and also in the long term. Need a plumber anyway as one tap has stopped working :(
*Try and haggle down wedding decoration supplier (one we like more expensive than other quotes) expected saving £90

Alright, so it's not as long a list as it seemed in my head :rotfl: most of my to do list appears to be chores instead :p

Anyway, if that all works out, then that's an additional £580 towards debt repayments, and £490 of that is on an ongoing basis :j:eek: Wow, what a waste
